Description

At the foot of the Cumbrian Pennines, this comfortable lodge is an ideal touring base for exploring the area.

In the beautiful upper Eden Valley, nestling between Appleby and Kirkby Stephen at the foot of the Cumbrian Pennines, and conveniently located adjacent to and just off the trans Pennine trunk road (A66). This makes the location an excellent touring base for exploring the Yorkshire and Durham Dales to the east, and the Lakes to the west. These detached holiday lodges provide accommodation of an excellent standard, they are tastefully furnished, very comfortable and well equipped, they enjoy countryside views and a totally separate and lovely setting on a no through lane within a small, rural caravan park. The park encourages wildlife and has a conservation pond with a wide variety of birds in the surrounding woodlands and frequent visits from roe deer. This is a wonderful base for those who enjoy outdoor pursuits – less than a mile away, main roads give access to the myriad attractions and stunning landscapes of the Lake District National Park, Yorkshire Dales and County Durham, and the shops, pubs and restaurants of Brough are also only 1 mile. The larger town of Kirkby Stephen, 5 miles, has a supermarket and variety of gift shops, cafes, tourist information office, library and station for the Carlisle/Settle railway.

Was a lovely break. Cottage was warm and comfortable and very clean. Only negative about is there are no direct country walks from the property.

Due to family illness I had to return the same day

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; 'We are all very sorry that you had to depart after only an hour or so due to a family illness. If there had been any issues that we could have addressed then these would have received our immediate attention if reported. We are proud to have received 10 other reviews within the last 12 months with overall scores of not less than 8 out of 10. We do however note all comments & requests and act upon them immediately if given the opportunity.

Great little lodge. Easily accessible and about 1 hour from any attraction in the lakes or dales. The lodge could use a spruce up but nothing more than a lick of paint to brighten up woodwork. Very comfortable beds and the staff, whilst rarely seen (which was good) were very pleasant and helpful. Would definitely stay again.
