Welcome Cottages

Lakeside, seaside, countryside, hillside...wherever you can picture your perfect cottage, you'll find it with Welcome Cottages!

On the outskirts of the Dartmoor National Park, guests can enjoy strolling along the footpaths while listening to the birds singing.

Superb views over the surrounding hills and patchwork of fields can be enjoyed from this first floor holiday property, which is enviably located on the edge of the beautiful Dartmoor National Park. Attached to the owners’ home, with which it shares a delightful garden with fantastic views and a wildlife pond brimming with water lilies, Hollyhocks serves as a tranquil base from which to enjoy a whole host of rural pastimes. The area is a haven for walkers, bird-watchers and nature lovers, with plenty of footpaths to explore. Locally, visit the restored water wheel at Bovey Tracey, take a trip on the steam train from Buckfastleigh to the market town of Totnes, and explore at leisure the many fine NT properties which stand proudly close by. For seaside attractions, Teignmouth and the English Riviera are within driving distance, while for excellent shopping journey to the naval town of Plymouth. Shop and pub 1¼ miles.

Stairs to first floor entrance: Living room with sofa bed (for alternative sleeping only)/dining room. Kitchen. Double bedroom with en-suite bathroom with over-bath shower and toilet.

Only negative were the poor directions from A38, they were not sequential and needed more detail

We really enjoyed our holiday in Hollyhocks. A very nice cottage, beautifully equipped and presented. Nice sitting room, kitchen, and bathroom - but the bedroom was a bit small (it would have been nice to have a couple of chairs to put our clothes on at night, instead of having to use the floor); however, the bed was very comfortable. The selection of leaflets, etc, describing local attractions were useful, but some were a bit old and out of date

    Response from: administrator

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your comments. Although we don’t have chairs in the bedroom, there is a Lloyd Loom linen box that can be used to place clothes on overnight. The tourist information leaflets are updated every 12 months.

Overall, a very good place to stay, but only suitable for 2 adults, unless you want to make up the sofa bed each night. The property was very clean, and had a wonderful outlook over open country. The narrow lanes might prove a trial for some, but it did make for a quiet and peaceful stay, as few cars ventured down them! The owner was very friendly and welcomed us personally. There were a couple of minor disappointments: - no serving spoons, and a lack of daylight and fresh air in bedroom.
