The location was really good, only being 7 minutes away from The Dartmoors by car. The accommodation was smaller than expected, ideal if just people, but provided all that you would require for staying. Newton Abbott is the nearest main town which had all your supermarkets for food. Not ideal for dogs that do not get on with other dogs, as dogs roaming on country lanes from other houses. The owner was friendly and has own dog and cat, which we wasn't aware of due to our dogs not getting on with others. Slept on sofa bed as we wanted to be in the same room with our dogs due to one being deaf and health issues, which was slightly uncomfortable. This was our first dog friendly accommodation and holiday and was not what we expected, but is thankful that the owner agreed to have us, as normally only 2 small dogs allowed, which we have 2 huskies, but the facility of having a sofa bed was reason we stayed here. Has a field 5 meters away which you can walk your dogs, but due to lambing season, had sheep and lambs on 5 days out of the 7, therefore unable to use with our dogs, but if your dogs get on with livestock then ok. Otherwise it was walking along the country lanes. Parking is a bit tight in getting on to the drive as narrow country lane and wall opening onto property, so moving backwards and forwards for large vehicle. Overall it was a good break.

Only negative were the poor directions from A38, they were not sequential and needed more detail

We really enjoyed our holiday in Hollyhocks. A very nice cottage, beautifully equipped and presented. Nice sitting room, kitchen, and bathroom - but the bedroom was a bit small (it would have been nice to have a couple of chairs to put our clothes on at night, instead of having to use the floor); however, the bed was very comfortable. The selection of leaflets, etc, describing local attractions were useful, but some were a bit old and out of date

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your comments. Although we don’t have chairs in the bedroom, there is a Lloyd Loom linen box that can be used to place clothes on overnight. The tourist information leaflets are updated every 12 months.

A gorgeous cottage in a lovely location. The owners could not have done any more to make our stay a wonderful one.
