We had a lovely stay in a well maintained cottage, cinema room was a lovely feature (kids really enjoyed) but adults did find seats uncomfortable. Equipment was of high standard although lower bedroom mattress is a little thin and there was no tin opener. The location was beautiful very handy for travelling to other parts of the lakes. We lowered the cleanliness score as although beds , floors etc were clean, we had to wash numerous pieces of crockery before use due to food and drink stuffs stuck on same ( This may not be down to owners but the people who were there before us not cleaning their dishes before they left). The bin in the upstairs dressing room also had a condom wrapper in it on our arrival which did invoke a scrupulous search of the bedding prior to sleeping!!All in all we had a lovely holiday at Hollybank House and would recommend to friends and family.

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your comments regarding your stay at Hollybank House and so pleased that you and your family had a lovely holiday and that you would recommend to friends and family. We took a lot of care when completing the cinema room and purchased genuine premier cinema seats to give the authenticity of being at the cinemas. Also, we were sorry to hear your other comments, and can assure you that these have been rectified, and taken the matter up with the cleaning company. We hope to see you again sometime, and once again, thank you for your feedback.

The house is fantastic, the en suite bathroom is lush, the cinema room is awesome feature, ideally located to get to Keswick, Cockermouth, Whitehaven, Carlisle. With a fabulous garden and a great pub right on your doorstep that does great food.

Excellent house friendly owners boys loved cinema room.House really comfortable could perhaps do with one more chair ? For larger amount of guests staying in main room but good location would definitely go back again, and recommend to friends.

Hollybank House was brilliant and we had a wonderful bank holiday weekend. The bottle of Prosecco and card left by the owner for my daughter and son-in-laws wedding anniversary was a lovely touch! They had stayed in Gilcrux for their honeymoon 20 years before. We ate in the pub next door and the bistro over the road - both excellent meals. The cinema room was a quirky addition and we did enjoy an evening in there. Would definitely stay again and highly recommend. The owner was vey friendly and helpful, many thanks for making our weekend a pleasurable one
