We stayed for a week at Holly Lodge and it was very enjoyable. The owners were very friendly and really helpful with good advice about the surrounding area. We would certainly go back again if we were holidaying in Cornwall.

The cottage was the perfect size for me, my husband & 2 dogs. The location is fantastic for walkies & we easily visited both beach & moors and were inspired to holiday in Cornwall again with our dogs. It was lovely to have a cream tea waiting for us after our journey. Unfortunately the pictures on the website led us to believe the little garden attached to the cottage was completely enclosed & was one of the main reasons for choosing it but actually one side of the garden was open, meaning we could not just let the dogs out in the garden without them being on the lead, perhaps the owners could add another photo of the front of the property to show the garden specifics.

It was a nice clean barn conversion with all appliances, pretty hard to find as sat nav does not take you to the address, not far from other locations. The downside to staying here was that it is not a closed off garden for the dog to roam it was the owners driveway, there is no scenic views as the only window is your patio doors looking onto the owners property we had the curtains shut all the time due to wanting privacy...Heating...heating is a big issue at this property it has 2 storage heaters of which are no use, the owner gave us a electric heater on the second night and on the last night he gave us a electric radiator this only made a slight difference. Also there was condensation running down the walls in the bedroom due to the property being cold we informed the owner of this but he did not seem concerned

    Response from: Administrator

Response on behalf of the owner; We welcome all feedback from our guests and will continue to do all we can to make their stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. We do tell all guests when they contact us prior to arrival that it is best to follow the written directions provided when they near Holly Lodge as a sat nav will lead you approx. 1/2 mile away. Holly Lodge has a private garden area, screened by trees/bushes etc. to provide privacy for our guests and our family. A path leads to the driveway/parking area and this is not gated for practical purposes but the main garden area is gated and surrounded by stone walling - we obviously welcome dogs and appreciate that they may well explore beyond the area of Holly Lodge's garden! Due to the rural nature of the property, Holly Lodge has night storage heaters - the heating output of these can be adjusted, as well as the time of day for maximum output. However, we do appreciate that the heating level provided by the night storage heaters cannot be instantly increased (or decreased) and therefore Holly Lodge has an electric wall mounted fire in the living area and an oil filled electric radiator available for use if additional heat is needed in the colder/Winter months. Holly Lodge is a stone walled barn conversion and as we explained to our guests, when it is particularly cold outside and warm inside there can be a degree of condensation, however we will do all we can to keep this to a minimum and it is obviously not an issue as the weather warms in the Spring.
