Follow the Pendle Witch Trail from Clitheroe Castle and enjoy the beautiful countryside and historic villages.

Enjoying a rural location that is just 1 mile from the bustling town of Clitheroe, this semi-detached barn is ideal for families and couples, offering well-proportioned and comfortable accommodation in the heart of Lancashire’s Ribble Valley. Holgate’s has open plan living accommodation with underfloor heating and three comfortable bedrooms. On-site parking also means that guests can leave the car behind when heading into the town centre, which if you don’t fancy a mile’s walk is just a short bus or taxi ride.
The market town of Clitheroe is regarded as the capital of Lancashire’s Ribble Valley and apart from its Norman castle, has a great selection of shops, bars, cafés and restaurants. Other popular towns and villages within the Ribble Valley include Longridge, Chatburn, Ribchester, Waddington and Whalley. With stunning scenery and lots of charming country pubs, the Ribble Valley is perfect for walkers and cyclists. The Forest of Bowland, which is one of the UK’s designated Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, covers over 300 square miles of rural Lancashire, and North Yorkshire is right on the doorstep. Other popular walks include Pendle Hill and the Tolkien Trail. The Forest of Gisburn is just 12 miles away. Other popular activities nearby include golf, fishing and swimming.
Families with children will enjoy Clitheroe Castle Museum, 1½ miles, Bashall Barn, 4 miles, and Bowland Wild Boar Park, 10 miles. Should you wish to venture further afield, the barns are ideally placed for touring thanks to their proximity to the motorway network, and there is easy access for both coast and country. Blackpool, whose many attractions include the famous tower, Pleasure Beach, zoo, Sealife Centre and Madame Tussauds, is within a 45 minute drive. Shop and pub 1 mile, restaurant ½ mile.

Absolutely beautiful accommodation. A little further out from Clitheroe town centre than I had anticipated, but an easy enough walk. Struggled to find the property using Google Maps, but owner was very helpful and we soon got there.

Pristine modern conversion of an old granary with every amenity you could wish for. Very comfortable beds ensured a good night's sleep. Televisions in all bedrooms as well as the lounge. Situated in a beautiful area in the Ribble valley near to Pendle Hill and close to Clitheroe with its choice of supermarkets and there are many excellent food pubs in villages nearby. Fine walking if weather permits. We had a warm reception from Helen and Chris who provided a really generous welcome hamper. This is very high on our long list of self catering accommodation and we will be recommending to friends and family.

This is the best cottage we have stayed in and we have stayed in quite a few. The cottage is best suited to adults with or without dogs. There is a small wholly paved garden/patio areas making it unsuitable for young children. For dogs there are loads of local walks and for walkers it is very well positioned. The cottage is very well equipped with everything you would need for 6 - plenty of towels tea towels and so on. When we arrived we were given a very warm welcome from the owners that had also kindly left a very nice hamper of goodies and even fresh flowers on the dining table. We also found the resident owners of the other properties around the courtyard very friendly.
