Description

With views over the Teifi Valley and Preseli Hills, explore the dramatic coastline of Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion from this property.

Nestled peacefully amongst the rolling countryside, with spectacular views over the picturesque Teifi Valley and rugged Preseli Hills of Pembrokeshire, these four traditional Welsh barns have been lovingly restored. These properties (refs OQ6, OT5, OT6 and OT7) make a perfect touring base for couples or families looking for a unique holiday experience. The former barns date back to the 18th century and have been sympathetically restored to retain all of their original charm and character. Welcoming touches have been added, including blazing wood-burning stoves for those cosy nights in. Sit back and relax in the beautiful grounds, or for the more active, enjoy the numerous leisure facilities Penwern Fach has to offer, including a golf practice, a football field, children’s play area and games room, a great distraction for inclement weather. There is also a building on-site that offers wi-fi and is shared between the cottages. A short distance away lies the charming village of Cenarth, which is famous for its salmon leaping, glistening waterfalls and the nearby country club which offers excellent facilities for guests to enjoy, including a bar, swimming pool and Jacuzzi (£3.30 pp per day), sauna and gym (discounted rates). The area itself has lots to offer, including fantastic walks along the nearby Preseli Hills, where visitors can discover the numerous trails and enchanted sites scattered along the rolling countryside. Conveniently located on the edge of the Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion borders, guests can explore the dramatic coastlines and discover the pretty coastal towns of Aberaeron, New Quay and Newport, offering a collection of seafood restaurants, boutique gift shops and unblemished beaches, where dolphins and seals can be spotted on a clear day! Away from the coast, the countryside is just as promising, and home to a number of historic sites and charming market towns dotted around the county, including Newcastle Emlyn and Cardigan. Just a 45-minute drive away are the thrilling leisure parks of Tenby. Beach 6 miles. Shop and pub 1 mile.

Beamed, open-plan living/dining room with wood-burning stove and kitchen area with slate floor. Wet room with bath and toilet. Double bedroom with TV. First floor: Beamed twin bedroom.

Beautiful renovated cottage with facilities on site and helpful owner nearby. Plenty of outdoor area for children to keep busy. All good for a family holiday.

We enjoyed our stay in this lovely cottage, but would have liked wifi connection in the cottage rather than in a separate building as there was no mobile phone signal in the area

Absolutely first rate holiday accommodation : beautifully clean, very tastefully decorated, and a good spacious layout. I didn't want to go home to my own house after staying at Hirwaun Cottage! Our boys loved the large grounds, football pitch, playframe/swing and games room too. And, unlike many rental properties, this was really well equiped with everything you might need, I really couldn't fault it. Only gave less than 10 on the location because this is a quieter area of Wales for tourists than Pembrokeshire or, say The Lake District, so you do have to travel a bit further to find attractions to suit the whole family - but with Cardigan's beaches only 15 minutes away, this wasn't a problem for us.

Hirwaun Cottage is a great base to explore mid Wales and Pembrokeshire. We were very impressed with the cottage, it's beautiful. It was very clean and had everything we needed. It is so peaceful, loved having a cup of tea in the garden in the morning, listening to the birds. We all enjoyed our holiday and would love to visit again.

Hirwaen cottage is superb, it is furnished and equipped to a high standard and spotlessly clean. The location is within easy reach of the coast and other amenities. We would definitely return and recommend to friends and family.
