The location and view is very nice but the road to the accommodation is terrible. From the accommodation to the beach is only 400 meters on feet and that's what we like. There are a lot of beautiful places in the area to visit and you can walk for miles in nature.

Comfortable cottage in quiet area, negatives are as in earlier reviews, one was the track leading up to cottage is rough but is ok if taken steadily although an electronic fob is available to allow access via the caravan park after arrival, the only other was the cottage is not as close to the shore as we thought. There is a winding footpath through the sand dunes to get there. Overall we had a great stay with fantastic views across the channel and easy road access for exploring further afield, Barry Island and the Gower Peninsula within short distance. Would definitely stay there again.

Not quite what we expected, probably be best during the summer when you don't need to rely on heat to keep you warm

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your feedback regarding Hillcroft. I provide a wall mounted electric radiator in the bathroom, a log burner which, when kept lit, provides heat, and four electric heaters on castors which can be moved around the Cottage. All electric is included, so these can be kept on, there are no ‘hidden costs’, with guests having to pay for electric with a meter. I also have an electric blanket on the double bed, and extra throws which can be used wherever required. I am very disappointed that your expectations of the Cottage were not met. Hillcroft is enjoyed by many of my regulars, and feedback from my previous guests has been positive. I am sorry that you were not completely satisfied, but as can be seen from other reviews, many people have really enjoyed their stay with us.

Lovely cottage with wonderful views. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, plenty of dog walking and waking to a view of the estuary brightened the day. The owner was very friendly and helpful, the welcome package was greatly appreciated. Overall brilliant week away, and definitely hope to return.

Stunning views of the costline from this cottage. We stayed for 3 nights and really enjoyed the peace and tranquil of the place. lovely coastal walks and only 10 mins car ride into porthcawl. The cottage itself was very homely and had all utilities you needed. The layout was really good and the log fire great in the evenings.

Wonderful experience. great views and very quiet. Very well equipped bungalow. Nice touch was the welsh cakes ,tea and coffee and milk to welcome you. Only thing against was road to bungalow was very bumpy and full of potholes ,be very careful after caravan site, otherwise would return there again

This was superb value for money, particularly with all the little extra comforts provided, such as fluffy blankets and heaters. The setting was amazing with panoramic sea views. I was quite concerned before arriving after reading the 'warnings' about the lane from previous holiday makers. It was, however, not any problem; the lane is bumpy but as long as you travel carefully, it is extremely manageable. Thank you for the lovely touch of leaving Welsh cakes, we thoroughly enjoyed them!!

Terrible road up to the property but everything there for a nice holiday break.lovely view over the Bristol Channel and ideal for dog walking.Lounge furniture could be more comfortable but otherwise everything else was fine

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your comments about my cottage. It is described on the website as being reached via a rough track. It is not a tarmacked road in parts, and, as long as I drive slowly, it is perfectly accessible for my small car. I would not describe it as terrible, but as described as in the property details. The advantages are that you can have a peaceful break with wonderful views over the Bristol Channel and lovely walks over the dunes to the beach.

A neat little cottage with lovely views. I went with three friends who agreed it was good value for money. The lounge furniture is probably due for an upgrade and a footstool would also be helpful, but otherwise a pleasant stay thank you.

Even though we had a nice holiday due to the beautiful surroundings and long walks, shame about the drive up to the cottage which was narrow and bumpy, we found the cottage to be uncomfortable and would benifit redecoration.

Our second visit to Hillcroft was better than the first. Smashing new bathroom. What a lovely, peaceful place; ideal for walking, dogs, great views. Suited us very well.
