Hill Top House is a wonderful house in a fantastic location surrounded by the beautiful scenery of Malham. Superb walking country. We stayed in the house as a family party of 8 - the majority being over the age of 70 - we did not intend going out to eat in the evenings as we preferred to be together as a family unit and use all the facilities of the house. As we were constantly using the house as a 'second home' and cooking all the time, we were just concerned that there were a few things lacking which we would have expected in a house like Hill Top and for the money we paid. Examples were: Microwave was broken - it looked as though it had been broken since April according to the visitors book? We had to chase up the AGA being fixed before we arrived so you would have thought that someone would have checked that the microwave would have been fixed at the same time? There was no hand brush or broom to sweep the beautiful slate tiles. Was not wanting to bring out the hoover everytime! We found as a larger party - there was not enough of the same glasses to go round - all a bit random in type. Teapot needed to be bigger too!! Coffee filter machine no glass? We could not find any spare light bulbs anywhere - one of the lamps in a bedroom was broken on arrival and had not been changed. Perhaps someone should go round and check all lights work before the next party arrive? No ice trays for cold drinks in the freezer. The far bathroom upstairs was being used by older members of our party during our stay and they found it very difficult to unlock and lock the door which can be distressing! Poor standard of oven trays. No BBQ coals - but no indication on the pre-arrival information that we should bring our own. We did have a lovely time at Hill Top but just thought there was a slight lack of care and attention in the overall housekeeping? All the above can easily be sorted and as it was such a beautiful place, we did not want another party to experience the same niggles as ourselves.
