This was a lovely cottage, in a quiet setting of two houses overlooking a beautiful view. The cottage is well equipped and the owner of the cottage who lives next door is friendly and welcoming. There are plenty of things to do locally including some beautiful walks and the cottage is within easy driving distance of many others, including Killhope Lead Mine and Hadrian's Wall, the Roman Army Museum and Roman forts. About 500 metres through fields down the hill is a village with shop, and the nearest town, Alston, is about 5 mins by car down the road. It has a lovely little bakery, a wholefood shop, two supermarkets, good pubs, and a narrow gauge railway!

This cottage is ideally located for walking and has a fantastic view over the valley from the conservatory at the back. The owner was very helpful and knowledgeable about the local area.

Fabulous views, good location for visiting other areas, comfortable cottage. Quite remote, so perfect if you want to get away from it all - not so good if you want to be connected to the outside world.
