There are many festivals including Scottish Nights, historic walks, a jazz festival, the Wickerman Festival and a spectacular tattoo festival. There are various walks available, from scenic coastal walks to marked forest trails. With sailing, swimming, riding, fishing, golf, boat trips and water sports close by there is sure to be something for everyone. Warmed by the Gulf Stream there are many beautiful gardens to visit, including Threave Gardens (NT), historical sites and castles to explore. The Solway Coast has many extensive sandy beaches and rocky coves to explore, with many traditional fishing villages and harbour ports. Close to the Galloway Forest Park, and central to five of the 7 Stanes, it is a popular location for cyclists and mountain bikers. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

Could not possibly fault anything. It was the best holiday accommodation we have ever had.

Great holiday thanks. A couple of minor problems that were sorted almost immediately. I scored 9 for comfort as the double bed upstairs was slightly hard, however I know this is a personal preference.

Loved staying at a Robins Nest over the new year period. The location and proximity to Kirkcudbright where perfect. The only negative was that the wifi went off on the second day of our stay which was a bit of a letdown as the wifi was one of the features that had lead us to chose the cottage. Although this was not down to the fault of the owners, unfortunately the weather conditions caused this. I was absolutely recommend this cottage to anyone as it was a lovely cosy (yet spacious) property in an ideal location for exploring the local sights
