Description

A peaceful location to enjoy the views, with walking and cycling and discovering this lovely part of Northumberland.

These two delightful holiday homes have been imaginatively converted from barn buildings. Dove Cottage (ref 26289) stands detached, with its living area on the first floor to make the most of the wonderful views, whilst Swallow’s Rest (ref 27540) adjoins the owners’ home. Peacefully situated, and surrounded by farmland with walking and cycling from the door. They enjoy splendid views down the Allen Valley towards Weardale and north to the Cheviot Hills. Whilst the location may seem a little remote, only 1½ miles away, lies the busy village of Allendale, with shops, pubs, restaurants, tea rooms and electric bike hire - a pleasant walk or a 5-minute drive. This beautiful, unspoilt part of the North Pennines is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Hadrian’s Wall, Keilder Water, both the Northumberland and Lake District National Parks, and the glorious heritage coastline are a scenic drive away. Enjoy stargazing in the internationally acclaimed Dark Sky Park. Newcastle, Durham and Carlisle are within easy reach. The historic market towns of Hexham and Alston are nearby. Shops, pub and restaurant 1½ miles.

Lovely comfortable cottage with great attention to detail and top quality decor and furnishings. Very pleasant and helpful owner. The only minor criticism is some photos on the website are a little dated.

Fab accommodation in quiet location. All to lovely standard with well equipped kitchen and comfortable beds etc. Barry (the owner) was very friendly and helpful. Super fast broadband. Close to great walks, history and scenery. Only thing missing was lack of smart tv but if you're planning on smashing a box set just take a fire stick or similar as fibre quick enough. Definitely recommended and would go back.

A fantastic holiday in a great cottage. We have stayed in many cottages but this was by far the best. Barry and Elaine were brilliant hosts and the extras such as the welcome afternoon tea and chocolates on the pillows just added to the holiday. The area was fabulous with lots to do and visit. We hope to return soon.
