English Country Cottages

An inspiring collection of properties chosen for their character, luxury and heritage, all graded 4 star and above.

In an AONB, this is the perfect base for wildlife lovers, as well as being the ideal spot for watersport enthusiasts.

This detached, architect-designed holiday house sits in one of the most enviable positions in Newquay with uninterrupted views across the Gannel Estuary, a haven for wildlife, a watersport enthusiasts dream and an AONB. The property has its own indoor, heated swimming pool which is located on the lower ground floor. The views across the water to the green hills of Crantock are stunning and the footpath that hugs the shoreline can be accessed through the garden gate at the bottom of the well-tended gardens. An old bridge crosses the tidal sands to the village of Crantock. Walks, crabbing, kayaking, horse riding, stand-up paddle boarding and windsurfing can all be enjoyed on the Gannel, most of which are available to hire locally. A local tip is to stroll along the Gannel to one of Newquay’s oldest and original cafés to enjoy crab sandwich’s and a pot of tea, overlooking the beach out to the sea. Newquay with its surf and beach culture is a short walk and has many restaurants, shopping, a zoo, leisure centre, swimming pools and a working harbour, where you can take to the sea on one of the many fishing boats and hopefully catch the evening’s dinner! There are many tourist attractions in the surrounding area from man-made to natural, such as Crealy Adventure Park, Lappa Valley Railway, Newquay SeaLife Centre, plus several NT gardens, such as Lanhydrock and Trerice Manor. Watergate Bay, home to Jamie Oliver’s restaurant, is nearby and Padstow, with many excellent eateries including Rick Stein’s restaurant and excellent fish and chip shops, is a short drive along the most beautiful coast roads in the country. St Ives, Fowey and Falmouth are all within easy reach and are all essential destinations to enjoy and explore the wonderful and diverse county of Cornwall. Beach ¾ mile. Shop and pub 1 mile, restaurant ¾ mile.

Extended family ages 2 - 65 stayed over Spring half -term week. Hard to believe that so many of us just seemed to disappear in the spacious house. Although large the amazing thing was how homely it was. Of course the grandchildren loved the pool and games room. Granddad especially enjoyed the great walks over the estuary as did his Jack Russell. Everyone enjoyed the great estuary views from the house and watching the variety of wading birds and of course the horses enjoying walks and canters on the sand. So much so the Grandma fulfilled one of her bucket list wishes by having an hours ride down the estuary from the nearby riding stables. Also enjoyed visits to Newquay beaches and Perranporth. The fish and chips from Flounders in town, delivered for free, were probably the best any of us have ever had. Also enjoyed some ten-pin bowling at a nearby hotel. Now we just have to save up for our return visit next year!

the house is well equipped with stunning views, the group loved the pool and games room. It is a perfect house for families to get back together. The beds are comfortable and most of the rooms spacious. Rooms are split over 3 levels, 2 bedrooms lower ground, 1 bedroom ground and 2 on 1st floor. The owners are there to help and welcoming, they put milk and flowers ready for our stay. The drive holds 5 cars easily. This is our second visit to the house we all love it and would visit again :)
