Description

An ideal place for the family with its friendly animals, Valley Views is located in an area filled with attractions.

Overlooking a secluded valley, just 8 miles from Woolacombe’s long sandy beach, these three superb holiday properties each enjoy their own enclosed garden area, and are peacefully set down a mile long made-up private road. Close to the owner’s home, they have been imaginatively and beautifully converted from former farm buildings, incorporating glass frontages to take advantage of the lovely views over the stream-bordered paddocks which lead to beautiful woodland walks. Children love getting to know the bunch of friendly animals, which include miniature ponies and donkeys, llamas, pet sheep and small flock of traditional breed hens.
Perfect for a relaxing holiday, the area holds a wealth of attractions. The ancient town of Barnstaple, with its Domesday associations, lies just 5 miles distant. Here the visitor can find a good selection of shops, restaurants, museums, a theatre and various sporting facilities, not to mention a 14th-century parish church, a fascinating Heritage Centre and a daily Pannier Market. For watersports enthusiasts, the beautiful beaches at Woolacombe, Croyde Bay and Saunton Sands are a must, affording some of the finest windsurfing in Devon, as well as being a haven for sunbathers and sandcastle builders. Wonderful walking and riding can be enjoyed in the nearby Exmoor National Park (6 miles), where red deer roam the rugged moors and magnificent sea views can be admired from lofty cliffs and headlands.
Among the many places to visit within a 5 mile radius are Arlington Court (NT), with its collection of model ships and Victorian accessories, and Marwood Hill Gardens, complete with its string of lakes, rare shrubs and exotic trees. The resorts of Ilfracombe, Combe Martin, Lynton and Lynmouth are also easily accessible, each offering its own blend of seaside charm. Golf and sailing, 8 miles. Shops 5 miles, pub 3 miles.

This charming and imaginative conversion is the end one of three cottages (adjoining Woodland View) and offers stunning views across the valley. Spacious open-plan living/dining room with beamed ceiling and well-equipped kitchen area with stable door to patio and garden. Stairs to half-landing: Double bedroom. Bathroom with toilet. First floor: Two twin bedrooms, each with en-suite shower room with toilet.

Enjoyed a very nice stay in the Wheel House, despite the weather. The house was warm and cosy and the owners were very friendly and helpful.

Our stay was wonderful! Fresh scones, jam and clotted cream on arrival, milk, tea and sugar so we could make ourselves a drink too. It was in a beautiful location, the owners were nearby to offer any help you may need and popped in to introduce themselves shortly after we arrived. The animals on the farm were really lovely and friendly, the children loved visiting them and taking them some food. The kitchen was so well equipped, even had a slow cooker! I can not recommend Valley View enough and would defiantly book again.

A lovely cottage to stay as long as you are happy away from it all, including no mobile signal. The owners are very helpful - especially when one of us ended up in hospital. Loved the animals, especially the chickens.

We had a thoroughly good time in Valley View and the surrounding area. The grandchildren loved the animals and Suzanne and Richard taught them a lot about them and caring for them. They were great, even when one of us (nameless!) left a gate open and there was an escape. The hospitality was great and we all enjoyed the cream tea, which turned out to be one of several! There is plenty to do in the area and the only improvement I can think of would be the weather, which was not terrible but not the best. However we had a lovely holiday in a lovely place. Thank you.

This cottage has a stunning valley view and lots of lovely animals (alpacas, sheep, donkey, and rare breed chickens) to entertain my 11 year old daughter who loves animals. The kitchen is well equipped and the owner's warmest touch - milk in the fridge, wine & cream tea on the table - was really welcoming. She gave us eggs from her chickens! Although there is a designated parking, this cottage is at the end of the adjoined block of cottages, we felt inconvenient to bring our stuff in passing other cottages, and it often made us a little bit too conscious of our neighbouring holiday makers. Also as we are keen walkers, we hoped to have walks from the door, but even the most obvious one down to the valley was impassable (no clear sign of passage as it was overgrown), which discouraged us entirely. This cottage would have been much better, and we'd have enjoyed much more if the local walks right from the doorstep were developed and shown clearly either in the holiday information pack or by signage.

Idyllic location, comfortable, clean it was like two holidays in one. The beaches namely Croyde and Woolacombe then coming back in the late afternoon to enjoy the views and feeding the animals. Faboulous! Ooh and the cream tea waiting for us when we arrived!!

A very comfortable and roomy unit in a secluded valley although there are 3 adjoining units. Very comprehensive facilities. Only downside was restricted head room in the main bedroom and bathroom (only one bruise!)

The welcome (including cream tea and wine) and wonderful cottage helped make this one of our best family holidays. Three bathrooms really helped with teenagers! The peaceful location and animals really made this special and we have all missed this since leaving.

Lovely cottage, and very spoit by the owners, on arrival we were left scones clotted cream jam, and a bottle of wine, which was a lovely jesture, and much appreciated. The cottage was so comfortable. There was nothing that we was short of, it was home from home, and the WiFi worked perfect. The animals there was a bonus. Tks we enjoyed are stay very much and will be back very soon.😃
