This cottage is in a beautiful part of the lakes with lots of magnificent walks all around you. Unfortunately it is not worth the price we paid for it. It doesn't have internet, a shower that really works, towels (!!!) or comfortable beds and dangerously steep stairs up to the loft room (more than one of us slipped down them) or very clear instructions on how to activate the hot water (with intermittent cold showers). The instructions for the cottage aren't particularly good - you need to find the cupboard next to the sink and then twiddle some buttons and hope. Most of it seems to focus on the fire procedures. Other parts of the cottage are quaint and a bit nannery (in a good way) but it is far too basic to justify the price tag with some essential items missing or flaky.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the agents; Thank you for your feedback in regards to your stay at Heron Cottage. In regards to the property, not all our properties have wi-fi, and the property description does not mention this as a feature. Towels are also not supplied in all our properties and in the information that is sent out to our guests this is highlighted, prior to travel and also the option to hire towels from the local office, should you require any. This property is a well-liked property in the centre of the Lakes, with added bonuses of parking on site. We at Cumbrian Cottages are always only a phone call away should you of been having issues with the shower and guidance could have been given during your stay.

We had a lovely time staying at this well appointed cottage. We took a 2 year old with us and he had a great time looking through the toys, children's books and using the childrens utensils provided in the kitchen. We missed not having WiFi (but maybe some people prefer to be disconnected) and the bathroom door doesn't close properly, so you'd want to know the people you are staying with very well - I think the owners are planning on fixing the door soon. We also really enjoyed using the leisure facilities in the hotel down the road as part of the accommodation package. We would definitely stay here again as we had a very comfortable stay.
