First floor apartment with sea views and wood burner, sandy beach at Red Wharf Bay close by, Plas Newydd nearby.

Built by Sir Harry Verney in the early 20th century, this interesting country house has been cleverly converted into a small cluster of holiday apartments. This wing of Wern y Wylan Court with sea views is a striking example of Arts and Crafts architecture. There is a shared garden and barbecue area, ideal for dining al-fresco. The holiday property is in an AONB, surrounded by countryside, forests and the sandy beach of Red Wharf Bay, only 0.5 miles away, and is perfect to discover local tourist attractions, including Beaumaris with its 13th-century castle, gaol, courthouse and restaurants. Discover the island’s varied coastline, perfect for all watersports, horse riding, golf courses, leisure centres, Anglesey Sea Zoo, Plas Newydd (NT) and day trips to Snowdonia, and even Dublin. Shop and restaurant 3 miles, pub 1 mile.

All on first floor: Living room/kitchen with breakfast area. 2 bedrooms: 1 double (5ft), 1 twin. Bathroom with shower over bath and toilet.

Convenient for dog walking and the weather was much better than the forecasts had predicted

Utterly awful. The cottage was booked as a weekend away with my family for my husbands birthday. My heart sunk as soon as we arrived and saw the peeling paint around the windows. The apartment was filthy, mould in the fridge (totally black around the seal and black dripping down the back), top of freezer was dirty, filthy bath and shower screen, stained toilet, dog hairs on the rug in the bedroom. The apartment had basic provisions such as crockery and washing up liquid but not teabags etc.The location was nice, a stroll down to the beach, a short drive into Beaumaris which is lovely.

Response on behalf of the owner. We are sorry for any inconvenience caused in this case. If only the guests had got in touch with us straight away rather than leaving it until after they returned home, these sundry cleaning issues could have been dealt with immediately. Given the other Revoo comments and those left in the house book, this issue seems to be very much a one off. For other guest’s benefit, our telephone number is provided in your welcome literature before you arrive and the maintenance man’s contact details are in the house book in the cottage.

It is in a nice area, but if the weather was inclement it was dark in the sitting room; but we mean black and it was therefore not for us.

Hawthorn is in a very quiet location with lovely views over the bay. We found it to be a great base for exploring the island both on foot and by car. The apartment was comfortable and clean with all the facilities we needed.
