The pretty stone cottages at Northway are set in 5 acres of grounds within half a mile of the dramatic coastal footpath above Peppercombe’s National Trust shingle beach and within 5 miles of the glorious sandy beach at Westward Ho! Most of the cottages open off a delightful flower filled courtyard, whilst some look out towards the sea. All of the cottages are well furnished and equipped and some have their own garden. Visitors enjoy use of a superb leisure complex housing an indoor heated swimming pool and spa with full changing and shower facilities (open 9:00am-7:30pm), a fitness area and games room with table football (coin-operated), pool table, table tennis and toddlers play area. For children, there is a well-equipped adventure play area and an area for ball games, and they will surely enjoy stroking the tame rabbits and goats. Christmas decorations, a real tree and champagne are supplied for Christmas bookings. This is a wonderful walking area, both on the coast and along the nearby Tarka Trail. From the lane, a rough track (not suitable for toddlers or the infirm) leads down to the coastal path from where there are magnificent views across Bideford Bay towards Clovelly and the beaches of Devon’s northern coastline. There is plenty to see and do nearby – The Big Sheep and Milky Way, the new Atlantic Village, and the picture postcard village of Clovelly (6 miles) are just some of the attractions. Bude’s superb sandy beach and resort amenities are within a half hour drive. Golf, fishing and riding are available locally and the Tamar Lakes offer sailing and wind surfing. Nearest pub serving food in Horns Cross, 0.25 miles.

We had a fabulous time. Owners are very friendly and accommodating. Only gripe was we had a fridge malfunction which cost us some packs of meat, and there could do with being some larger pots, a wooden spoon and a few more tea spoons but they were minor issues compared to the lovely location, great pool and games room, fabulous walks from the door, sea view and spacious accommodation. We will definitely be returning. The kids particularly enjoyed feeding the animals in the morning with the owner. Lovely touch. Good location for accessing various visitor attractions too.

A tale of two halves really! Location - beautiful; situated a short distance along a grassy lane from the A39 (ideal for travelling further afield), yet totally peaceful, with a real country feel and stunning views down to the coast. Great garden areas with plenty of benches and lots of room for the animals - a real hit with the young (and old). The pool area is great; roomy and clean with a comfortable water temperature. The games room could do with an update, but perfectly functional overall. Good parking, and Bob, the host, was charming, funny, helpful and great with the children when feeding the animals. Harvesters is very roomy and well equipped, and the bed linen, towels, crockery etc were very clean. Unfortunately, the accommodation drastically needs a deep clean, tidy and update, which is so sad because otherwise it is a brilliant place to stay. I can only base the review on Harvesters, because I didn't get to see the inside of the other cottages, as it was pretty well booked up for the weekend. From the guest reviews this is without doubt a very popular place to stay, but for the cost and expectation of holiday accommodation nowadays, it does need a bit of work. Having said that, for all of the other reasons, we may try a different cottage in the future as, particularly in bad weather, it is ideal having the leisure area on site, without the need to travel further afield or indeed spend more money!! We live in the country by the way, so are not spic and span "townies"!
