These detached holiday homes (refs 15443, 15445, 15447 and 18296) offer bright, spacious accommodation and are set in a peaceful North Cornwall rural location. Each has its own style, from New England to traditional, and each has a patio area with furniture and all are pet friendly. St Merryn is approximately 1½ miles with its shop, pubs and restaurants including Rick Stein’s pub ’The Cornish Arms’. St Merryn boasts the slogan ‘Seven Bays for seven days’. In addition to these sandy beaches, Padstow is a short drive away with its picturesque harbour, shops and restaurants. Take a ferry trip across the estuary to Rock or explore the Camel Trail by foot or bicycle (cycle hire available locally).
The beautiful bay at Watergate, home of the Extreme Sport Academy and Jamie Oliver’s ’Fifteen’ restaurant is within easy reach. The championship golf course at Trevose is approximately 2 miles away and for walkers, the coastal footpath is just 3 miles. Other areas to visit include The Eden Project, The Lost Gardens of Heligan and unspoilt Bodmin Moor as well as Newquay with its Zoo and world famous surfing beach at Fistral. Shop 11/2 miles.

All on ground floor: Living/dining room/kitchen. 2 bedrooms: 1 double, 1 twin with additional single, both with laminate floors. Shower room with level access shower and toilet.

Convector heaters included (£30per week, £20 per short break November-February). Electricity and bed linen included. Travel cot and high chair on request. Freeview TV. DVD. Electric cooker.     Harlyn was in a lovely quiet location with plenty of space for our children to play. Views across open countryside to the sea were lovely. Our disappointment was in the standard of cleanliness - we had to sweep and mop the kitchen floor on arrival as there lots of crumbs and bits on the floor. All five of the chairs around the breakfast bar were covered in crumbs (I'm not even sure how anyone could make so many crumbs!), the work surface hadn't been wiped to remove crumbs around the toaster and the bread bin was dirty inside. We washed all the cutlery and the cutlery tray and the drawer itself because some of the loose utensils were in there and it wasn't clean. The knobs on the kitchen doors were all sticky and the grill pan was very dirty (we couldn't use it as we were unable to clean it properly). The information booklet had something sticky on the front of it and the wooden floors in the bedrooms hadn't been swept for a while. We used the vacuum but this only exacerbated the smell of dogs etc. I tried to clean the sofa as the cushions hadn't been lifted for a while and there were bits of food etc underneath but there was no upholstery brush with the vacuum . The property was a little tired and for the price , we think we could have got a better property in that part of Cornwall. Having said that, if the property were updated a little and it was cleaned we would book it again because we appreciated the location as so close to great beaches and it was lovely and quiet.

    Handy for Padstow but the immediate area isn't so nice; near a farm and private airfield and next to a caravan park. Garden is not enclosed so if you are taking a dog you will need to keep them on a lead. Bathroom is old and very tired (smelled of damp). Although in saying that it wouldn't put us off staying again as you are so handy for all the local beaches (seven bays within 5 miles).

    Excellent location for great beaches..Lovely and quiet, nice and dark. Potentially all very good. Unfortunately the oven didn't work, which had been commented about in the guest book from the previous week..and it didn't work our week either, so we had to fry our pizza and eat out. We did enjoy our week.

    Response on behalf of the Owner; As responsible Owners of Harlyn, we were very sorry to hear that our guests have been unhappy with the cooker. Our caretakers have since tested the oven and found it to be in full working order. To avoid any further misunderstanding, they have written descriptions alongside each symbol in the instruction booklet to avoid mistaking the defrost option (where the oven only reaches 50 degrees) with the fan oven. They also highlighted the manual mode on the timer selection as the oven will only turn on when "M" is selected. Our guests the following week commented they had successfully used the oven for the duration of their stay. We provide a cooker manual alongside the hob which is available to guests to read and our ‘Welcome Booklet’ has the caretaker’s numbers and where they can be reached, if guests have a problem. We hope the additional instructions will avoid further confusion.
