Harbour View is a first floor, coastal, holiday apartment in the heart of the beautiful and historic riverside town of Dartmouth. It is conveniently located in the centre of town, just a short stroll from the picturesque riverside and the bustling maritime town centre full of interesting shops, galleries and eateries. The spacious interior of the apartment is light and airy and makes a great base for a family looking to explore the south Devon coastline. It lies at the far end of the main shopping street, opposite the lower ferry to Kingwear, where you can take the steam train along the riverside all the way to Buckfastleigh on the edge of Dartmoor. Ideal for golf. Shops, pubs and restaurants 20 yards.

    Furniture and beds, very uncomfortable, heater in the bathroom not working, 30 minutes from leaving home, had a phone call asking if we could take our own bedding?

We believe the sofas to be comfortable and the beds have new mattresses so think this is just down to personal preference as they are subjective. I did ring these guests as my cleaning lady was not well and even though I had managed to find someone else to cover, unfortunately she didn’t have any clean linen. At the time the guests seemed fine about it, if they had already set off or if I couldn’t contact them I would have asked the temporary cleaner to purchase some more. I don’t understand the low score on cleanliness as I’ve paid the cleaners good money to do it so without specifics I cannot comment further or look into it.

    Excellent location, within walking distance of all attractions. We did not need to use the car for the whole week. We travelled by boat, steam train and ferry very relaxing holiday

    On arrival it was clear the cottage had not been cleaned as beds were unmade and dirty towels had been left in the bath. The toilet was blocked and the contents had flooded over the top of the toilet across the bathroom floor. I immediately phoned the owner and left a message but nobody called me back. Fortunately another property was found for us. However even if this property had been clean and there was no plumbing issue, this property is grim. We were grateful to leave.

    Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your feedback. We must apologise that the property was not cleaned prior to your arrival. Unfortunately, our cleaner was involved in a car accident however we are pleased to report that she is on the road to recovery. Our Caretaker arrived at the property at 10am to do our changeover and noticed that there was a flood. We were not aware that the toilet was blocked and the previous guest did not notify us of any issues. The Caretaker contacted a plumber immediately due to us being away at the time. We have asked our Caretaker to contact should any issues arise in the future therefore enabling us to contact the guest to make alternative arrangements. We take great pride in the cleanliness and standard of our property and want all guests to enjoy their holiday and if any issues do arise during their stay we are always happy to help. Since this issue, we have revamped the property. Both bedrooms and the living area have been repainted, and new carpets have been fitted. The problem which caused the flood has been rectified and checked by a qualified plumber. We have recently had a meeting with our cleaning company and addressed the concerns of the cleanliness of the property. We anticipate the same expectations of our paying guests and in the future, we are confident that our cleaning company will meet these high standards

    Good location; property poor standard in every aspect, other than location; very tatty; not clean; cold; 2 bedrooms out of 3 were not adequate for the purpose; little storage; hanging space; grubby; damp and insufficiently equipped.

    Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your comments. This is very disappointing, especially as I spoke with this guest. She phoned me from the flat and said it was not as clean as it should be. So I contacted my caretaker who went there the following morning and attended to some of the areas she they were not happy with. Most of which was a little dust remaining from the painting works that had been done the previous week. Since we have had our new cleaner we have never had a complaint. They complained about the 3rd bedroom being tiny but as I explained, it says on the particulars the 3rd bedroom is very small so they should have anticipated this. I understand that the caretaker didn't leave the night storage heaters on so it may have seemed a little damp; we have since asked him to always leave them ticking over on low. However there are 2 electric heaters that they could have used which really heat the whole place up very quickly. The equipment far exceeds the basic requirements and we have a plentiful supply of Pyrex dishes, saucepans, frying pans, glasses, mugs, cups etc.
