Welcome Cottages

Lakeside, seaside, countryside, hillside...wherever you can picture your perfect cottage, you'll find it with Welcome Cottages!

Hanworth Lodge is a great base for exploring. It is only a drive away to popular towns such as Exeter and Plymouth.

Just a short walk from the harbour, Hanworth Lodge adjoins the owner’s home in a quiet residential area, and has been decorated and furnished to a very good standard. It has an attractive courtyard area from which to enjoy the sea views. Brixham forms the third part of Torbay, alongside Torquay and Paignton. The bay is known as the ‘English Riviera’ because of the unique micro-climate which the three resorts enjoy. Exeter and Plymouth are within easy driving distance and offer attractions, historical features and shops. Dartmoor is breathtakingly beautiful and romantic but also mysterious, wild and eerie. Shop, pub and restaurant 300 yards.

8 steps to entrance. Ground floor: Living/dining room. Kitchen. First floor: 2 bedrooms: 1 double, 1 single. Bathroom with shower over bath and toilet.

Gas central heating, electricity, bed linen and towels included. Freeview TV. DVD. CD. Electric cooker. Microwave. Washing machine. Freezer. Wi-fi. Courtyard garden with sitting-out area and furniture. On road parking. No smoking.

I stayed at Hanworth Lodge with a friend at the beginning of August. We received a lovely welcome and were shown around the accommodation by the owner.....before making ourselves a cup of coffee using the complimentary pint of milk that was in the fridge waiting for us. The accommodation was very spacious, clean and tidy, we couldn't fault it at all. As quite a few people have already mentioned on previous reviews, Hanworth Lodge is quite high up in Brixham involving a fairly steep walk up and down St.Peters Hill. We certainly become a little bit fitter by the end of our stay! It was a big bonus being able to see the harbour and sea from both the lounge window and main bedroom....great views. We enjoyed lovely meals (and ice-creams!) at various restaurants around Brixham harbour. I'd definitely recommend making use of local boat trips and take time to explore some of the coastal paths. Thank you very much for a lovely stay :-) from Amanda

We were made very welcome by the owners. It is in an ideal location for exploring the area and the car was not used after the first day as the public transport was so good. The various sets of steps from the harbour certainly helped the fitness level and we could not fault the cottage. Thank you. Pete

Lovely apartment in a good location for the town. Owners friendly and helpful. Only use this apartment if you are fit as the walk back from the town is up some very steep steps which get easier as the week goes on. We had a great week and would book again.

Response on behalf of the Owner; We’re so glad you enjoyed your stay at Hanworth Lodge and we really look forward to welcoming you again in the near future. The steps up from the town are indeed steep but we would like to mention that there are more gradual inclines up to the property if you wish and there is also an excellent bus service up from the town centre which would drop you off at the back of the property and the walk back then is on the flat. Of course, as you can appreciate, most of the cottages in Brixham are situated on hills and that’s why we have such lovely views!

Had a great time in Hanworth Lodge. It was very comfortable and well equipped. A steep climb up from the harbour though.

The house was lovely and a very warm welcome from the owners. The only downside was the table and chairs for our use were outside the owners house not the holiday let. So you do not have any private place to sit in the sunshine.

Response on behalf of the owner. It was nice to meet you and we’re so glad you enjoyed your stay in Hanworth Lodge but we’re sorry to hear that you were disappointed in the outside seating area. We do understand that it is not a private area dedicated to the Lodge but, as can be clearly seen from the website photos, the area in front of the Lodge is actually our driveway, with nowhere to put a table and chairs. We felt visitors would enjoy sitting in our front garden as the views, I think you would agree, are superb. We also leave the use of the front garden totally to our visitors when in residence.

Everything was good - maybe a dryer could be added at some stage as no access to Garden so no way to dry/air clothes. Open plan made it a little difficult to have television on if one of us went to bed early - assume it is the same if children are in house. All in all it was a most enjoyable stay and the owners were very pleasant and helpful Seeing below question lack of access thru back door would be a fire hazard

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner. We’re glad you had an enjoyable stay at Hanworth Lodge in September and it was lovely to meet you and your wife. As far as the back door is concerned, however, we would like to say that the key is hanging on the wall next to the door at all times to allow people to get out whenever they need to, so there is clearly no fire hazard. We do take your point about there being no tumble dryer in the property – however, there is an airer provided and there is also a notice on the kitchen wall stating that clients only need to ask if they wish to use the washing line and pegs will be provided. We hope this answers your concerns.
