We loved our stay at Hammett - it’s not super luxurious but great value and such a cosy getaway especially in winter with the lovely log burner. The kitchen and living room are where you spend most time and both are excellent and spacious. The bedrooms are a bit small especially with luggage and beds a bit soft, but these are minor points. Christmas decorations were a lovely touch and we appreciated the little extras such as milk and tea being left for us. We only had a few days so explored monkey world really nearby, and a wet and windy walk on the beach :) thanks for a great stay

Stayed over Christmas with my husband and our dog. Their attention to detail was extremely good, very clean and lots of information in the kitchen was a nice touch. Would recommend to friends and family

The cottage was very well placed to explore Dorset, being centrally located. We don't have any serious issues regarding our stay and although it is not the best accommodation we have ever stayed in it would not deter us from returning. There were comments within the visitors' book that suggest the bed was not the most comfortable and although we can empathise with this we did not find it necessary to comment likewise. There were also references from others that there were issues relating to parking on the driveway but we did not encounter any problems with this. Visitors need to bear in mind that the cottage is old so references to steep stairs are not really relevant as such things have to be accepted in old properties unless you wish to destroy its charm and character. The cottage was well equipped and did not lack any form of essential equipment. Although we did not have a problem with the immersion heater i.e. were never without hot water we did notice that the timer did not function correctly as it had been installed horizontally and not vertically thus causing it to stick between the hours of 1300 and 1400 We did leave a note to this effect for the owner when we departed ( this is not a complaint but an observation as the incorrect functioning of the appliance may be costing the owner money ) We also noted that there was a power socket in close proximity to the rear of the cooker which may be considered ill advised ( once again this is an observation and not a complaint ) It may well be worthwhile the owner having the property checked to ensure it is fully compliant and that all appliances have been recently PAT tested.

Having spoke to all of my party, I can safely say we all loved our few days at Hammett cottage. The rooms were immaculate, and we loved the three floor layout, with the living room being especially cosy. The only real downside we could come up with was that the local shop (Londis) wouldn't accept Scottish notes, and their only cash machine charged for the privilege of withdrawing money. I must stress this in no way affected our enjoyment at Hammett cottage, but is worth bearing in mind for any Scottish visitors. All in all, a pleasant weekend in a lovely home.

We passed a very enjoyable week at Hammett Cottage. We were familiar with the area having lived at Blandford for several years in the 1990s. Tolpuddle is an excellent base for exploring Dorset and the cottage was very well eqipped and comfortable. The only downside was that there was not a shop in the village.
