A nice quiet location next to a Winkburn Hall in the village of Winkburn. The owner was pleasant and welcoming but unfortunately the house is in great need of some attention. The front room door was hanging off it's top hinge and dragging on the carpet. You couldn't use the dining room table as it was all wobbly. There was black mold in the kitchen cupboards and behind the upstairs toilet. The downstairs bathroom extractor fan didn't work and the toilet seat was broken so we all used the toilet upstairs. The bedrooms were spacious but unfortunately there was an active wasps nest at the front of the property so we could not open any front-facing windows. The couches in the front room were very uncomfortable. On our last day at the cottage a floor board gave way in the twin bedroom and my foot weent through the floor, but luckily the carpet held and prevented me from injuring myself. I contacted the owner who said her husband will take a look.

Superb location and very quiet, which was great, but the property requires some modernisation/maintenance. Whilst superficially clean, a thorough 'spring clean' is needed as there were cobwebs everywhere. Phone signal very sporadic and whilst there was a Wi-Fi router there was no internet connection - though many would see this as a bonus! A lovely countryside location in a tiny hamlet was the main redeeming feature.

Just a little secluded in terms of getting a taxi.

The location was excellent for exploring the surrounding area. It would be much improved if there was hearing in the two bathrooms and if the shower was improved!

Brilliant time away in a picturesque setting. Home made cake on arrival. Well equipped for cooking and relieved it was so well equipped for children. Teenagers unhappy with no wifi and limited phone reception but was what we wanted!!! Quickly resorted to the dvd collection and board games. Will be back.

Cottage was perfect for our group of 6 adults. As others have mentioned it was cold for the first day or so but then really warmed up. The small pub in Maple beck was charming and worth a visit. Also recommend having a nosey in the church behind the cottage.

A little difficult to find the exact location of the cottage initially, as in a very quiet area, and needed to go off the road. Much bigger than anticipated, comfortably accomodating 6 adults and one baby. Kitchen well equipped. We all enjoyed our stay, and would happily stay here again, especially for the price.

Absolutely loved the cottage. The local grounds were fantastic as well. Took a little bit of finding and pretty detatched from everything (perfect if that's what you're looking for) but the owner is so friendly and the cottage is unbelievably comfortable.
