Enjoy wonderful sunsets over the sea from this peaceful clifftop house, just 10 miles from Exeter with its excellent links.

Stunning, uninterrupted sea views can be enjoyed from this spacious and individual, detached clifftop house, including views from three double bedrooms and one twin room. It is set just above the beach, which can be accessed via a private footpath and bridge. Built in 1860, this was the coastguard’s cottage and it has been completely restored to offer a perfect holiday home for families, or groups of friends to get together, a spacious property in a fantastic position. Situated above the Dawlish railway line, it offers far reaching views across the bay. There is a lovely patio area for al fresco dining whilst watching the lovely sunsets over the sea. Dawlish is a small seaside town approximately 10 miles from the cathedral city of Exeter with its regional airport and M5 motorway junction. It can be reached by regular bus and rail services from the town centre. The immediate countryside is a haven for walkers as the town is close to the Haldon Hills and Dartmoor National Park. There are 18-hole golf courses at Dawlish Warren and Teignmouth, as well as sailing facilities on the nearby Exe and Teign estuaries. The town offers a range of facilities and is well known for the brook and adjacent lawns which are home to a variety of water fowl including the famous black swans which are the town’s emblem. Once down at the sea front, you can enjoy the extensive picturesque shoreline in both directions. To the left, a leisurely sea wall walk takes you to the famed long sandy bathing beaches of Dawlish Warren, skirting the entrance of the Exe Estuary, and its nature reserve full of rare flowers, unusual birds and hidden ponds. To the right takes you to Coryton Cove, along the famous ’atmospheric’ railway line, past the bright row of beach huts and to the Edwardian gentleman’s sandy bathing bay, complete with a small cafe and interesting rock pools to explore. Teignmouth is close with its shops and pier. Sit in one of the local cafes or pubs right on the beach or take a short ferry ride across to Shaldon, where there are many cafes for a Devon cream tea, and a few independent shops. Brixham and Torquay are both just a short drive away, with theatres, boat trips, Sea Life centre and many more attractions. There are also plenty of NT places to visit. Beach 400 yards. Shop 500 yards, pub and restaurant ¼ mile.

    A lovely house in a beautiful location with stunning views. Could do with a little TLC but this is just minor and did not detract from our stay at all. Considering its size it is lovely and warm and cosy. Just a note if you go out at night take a torch as although there is good outside lighting it does not extend to the porch and the door where you fumble to get the key in the hole.

    This property is all about location and space and this was our second visit. You never feel cramped staying here as most of the rooms are large with big windows. There are some pleasant sea front walks on your doorstep and plenty of pubs/cafe's in Dawlish. Unfortunately, the cottage does needs some repairs and is very mush a "work in progress" property - water leaks into the living room and conservatory were experienced (but the owner knows and will repair off-season) and some of the rooms do need a make-over or re-decoration. The living room smells of damp dog but we bought some scented candles and this removed the problem. The only shower is on the ground floor past the kitchen - mildly inconvenient but of course, having stayed before, we knew this - perhaps a power shower in the bathroom would help?

    Garden needs securing for dogs and a little work just tidying it up. An extra shower would be great. And the shower room downstairs needs a lick of paint.

    Location is what you're paying for. House was plenty big enough to accommodate 10 and 2 small dogs, beautiful views out to sea but the house has been weathered by the storms, watch out for the hole in the hallway under the carpet. Sadly lacking enough pans/equipment in the kitchen to cook for 10 - recommend the Chinese just up the road! Easy to jump on the train to visit Torquay and other locations.

    We went to there for celebrate our wedding for two days and it was a brilliant place for it. Beautiful seaview with a huge terrace. Actually we had sunny days and we could dining outdoor. This house has given more than I expected. Good experience.

    Location location location is fabulous However that unfortunately is the only positive We like dogs one of us has a dog but the smell of dogs and the quantities of dog hairs on the carpets and floors was unbelievable The bathroom facilities are not enough for 9 people 1 shower and a very slow filling bath. Not enough kitchen equipment for cooking for 9 and no wifi. Having said all that we had a good week thanks to the benefit of a few days of good weather out on the beach and walking up the coast path.

In regards to your comments on the dog smell and hairs, none of our customers have complained about this issue previously. Hadleigh House is thoroughly cleaned prior to all customers’ arrival. We are a pet friendly property and many of customers highly appreciate this. We have a bathroom and a shower room; we provide images on the website for your viewing. Therefore our customers have a full perspective of our property prior to booking their stay. We have never had any negative feedback on the kitchen equipment; our customers feel our kitchen facilities are more than adequate. We do not actually advertise that the property has a Wi-Fi connection. If these issues had been brought to our attention during your stay, we would have been happy to investigate further.
