A great property that’s not far from everything York has to offer, but is very remote and peaceful. Great for a quiet relaxing holiday.

Our third visit to this fantastic cottage. The facilities and presentation of this cottage are faultless. The owners obviously take great pride in what they are doing by setting such a great standard of accommodation.Hopefully we will return on our next visit to the UK.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit, which was arranged to spend time with family. A few minor niggles with a shower were speedily resolved by Mr Boddy, and otherwise the cottage is well equipped. The location feels very remote, and "dark-sky" star viewing was fun, but in fact you are less than 20 minutes from York city centre, and lots of amenities, history and great shopping, whatever you wish. One of our party has mobility issues, but the Nook is all on 1 level, and the en-suite shower was reasonably easy to access, so no great difficulties to overcome. We hope to return some time soon!

We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at Haddocks Nook, peace & quiet surrounded by wild life, not to far for a spot of fishing, also well placed for visits to either the coast or the Dales & Moors. Would recommend the local pub for food & hospitality. Allan the owner, very helpful with knowledge about the lakes & local area, we hope to return next year.

What a find! This cottage was stunning in many ways; location, views, comfort, cleanliness, wildlife but overall rest and relaxation. We arrived at the farm and picked up our keys, welcomed by the owner and he guided us down a lovely lane to the cottage which was surrounded by fields. The cottage had its own walled area to sit in a look out over the fields watching the pheasants bob around, the red deer running and the many birds. Once we went in we had everything we would need for our stay, including a welcoming milk, eggs, bread, tea, coffee and cereal so we didn't have to rush straight out to the shop. There is loads of space, light and beautiful views in the cottage and no worries about being cold. Everything was very clean and good quality; especially the mattresses which gave a good nights sleep. Wifi was great, which we were grateful for as phone reception was not so reliable...that's EE's fault though! We went out to the Yorkshire Moors and Dales on different days and they were both just over an hour away and well worth the drive, along with a mooch about at Ripon Cathedral. This cottage is in a great position to get about in Yorkshire being central to many of the attractions. There is a local pub five minutes down the road (drive) which serves great food and even has an early bird offer between 5:30-7pm along with a couple of petrol stations with adjoining mini supermarkets for supplies. Be aware that just down the road there is a little toll bridge over the river that charges 40p towards the upkeep of the bridge so keep a little change in the car ready. We had a lovely holiday and came away rested and peaceful, but more to the point we will be going back in the near future for another holiday.

Excellent place to stay, everything you could possibly want from a holiday cottage. Close enough to places, but far enough from the hustle. So much to do in the area. We loved the cottage and area so much we booked while there for next year.

Haddock's Nook is a lovely, well equipped property which offers the opportunity to get away from it all. I would definitely stay there again.

Haddocks Nook is a great place to stay when exploring Yorkshire! It was warm, cosy and very welcoming. There was plenty of kitchen equipment and crockery and the furniture was good quality and comfortable. It was lovely to have doors that opened in the bedroom and lounge area when the weather was warmer and the countryside surrounding the cottage was outstanding! There are so many things to explore in the surrounding area and having a park and ride into York only a few miles away was very convenient. We would definitely return again to Haddocks Nook.

We enjoyed our stay at Haddock's Nook. The cottage is well equipped with a high standard of fittings and fixtures, (lovely ensuite shower plus large bathroom!) plenty of kitchen utensils if you want to cook, and had everything we needed for our week. The setting is fabulous - especially if you like seclusion and wildlife. We had rabbits, hares, pheasants etc. on the doorstep and wonderful peace and quiet. There are quite a few good pubs, the Aldwark Arms in the village is excellent as is the Bluebell at Alne and the New Inn at Tholthorpe. Further afield we found a good selection of shops and cafes in Easingwold. The farm shop and tea room at Beningbrough Hall Farm was a good find. Travelling around was easy, with beautiful villages to be found along small, quiet roads (though main roads too if needed). A short drive away, Helmsley, with a ruined castle, was a delight with interesting shops and tea rooms. There were plenty of things to do within a reasonable drive - Castle Howard, Rievaulx Abbey, Nunnington Hall, Beningbrough Hall, Bird of Prey centre etc. or just a walk from the front door. We will need to visit again as we didn't manage everything in one week. The welcome pack of bread, milk, biscuits etc was a nice touch too. We hope to return to this beautiful area. A fabulous week, thank you.

Excellent cottage, extremely comfortable and equipped to a very high standard. We spend a marvelous week there and would not hesitate to recommend it. There is also an excellent pub in the nearby village.
