Wales Cottages

The Wales Regional Specialist -Fantastic properties in the most favourable locations. No one knows Wales better!

Traditional Welsh listed property only 3 miles from Harlech, famous for its castle, golf course and 10 mile expanse of sandy beach.

This fabulous, traditional, Welsh listed building nestles against the hillside opposite the banks of the River Artro, which flows majestically down from Cwm Bychan. In under a minute you can be walking across a pretty bridge over the water and wending your way along pathways to the little village of Llanbedr, which boasts both a pub and a hotel - plenty of choice for a nice meal out. A warm welcome awaits you at Gwynfryn House with log fires and plenty of room to accommodate a large party of friends or family. The property has been tastefully decorated retaining much of its original character, such as the servant bells in the dining room, cleverly combined with modern conveniences. The downstairs layout is on slightly different levels of a step or two giving a unique feel to this glorious holiday house. The  lounge entices you to snuggle into its comfy leather sofas and relax completely. The combination of dark wood panelling and tall windows bring a sense of calm to the soul and the piece de resistance is the superb large fireplace. Cooking should be a delight in the recently fitted kitchen where you may choose to have breakfast in the morning and a more formal dinner in the attractive dining room in the evening. The ambience in here, along with the log burner housed in the fireplace, will make it very difficult to move from the table!  With so much to see and do in the local area, Gwynfryn House is the perfect base from which to explore beautiful North Wales

Gwynfryn House is a great place for a joint family holiday. We were a party of two families with 4 older kids/teens and Gwynfryn House provided plenty of space for all of us. The large living room was ideal for getting together and playing charades in the evening and the kitchen table was great for meeting up at breakfast and playing games in the evening. Having the extra dining room as well gave plenty of space for all of us. The kitchen is well set up although I cannot comment from a cooking perspective as the village pub is only fifteen minutes walk away (based on fit adults, older kids and teens) so we made the most of eating there. The village shop opposite the pub was open until 8pm so very convenient for picking up milk etc for breakfast. Whilst each bedroom has its own unique character all offered broadly the same comfort which was great for avoiding disputes over who had which room! We chose Gwynfryn House because the location is good for activities we wanted to do in the area but the surrounding walks were so enjoyable that we ended up spending more time walking near the property than I expected. I would not recommend this house for very small children as there is no garden but it was great for older kids and teens. The WiFi worked perfectly despite all of us using it. Just across the road from the house is a river where the younger members of our party enjoyed scrambling over the rocks and even swimming in the small lagoon on a sunny afternoon and they had a brilliant time. We found Gwynfryn House an ideal place to come back to after activities. The slate floors in the kitchen and tap by the back door made it very easy to manage when returning from the beach, canoeing and from walking in the rain. There was always plenty of hot water so in no time we could all be warm dry and curled up on the comfy sofas with a mug of hot chocolate and Welsh cakes. All in all we found Gwynfryn House the ideal place for a large family holiday and have taken away very fond memories of this place.

Quirky is a great description of this lovely old house. Three generations had great fun trying to find each other on the various passages and staircases. Waiting for us when we arrived was a big plate of home-made scones and a bottle of wine. Fresh flowers were arranged on the dinig table. Details like that say a lot about how much effort was made to make us feel welcome! The kitchen is very well equipped, as is the rest of the house. We can only recommend it, and hope to find time as a family group to stay again in the future.

We spent an enjoyable week here at the end of July. We were greeted by the owner who was friendly and had left a couple of gifts that were greatly appreciated and to help us settle in. As others have said, this property is very quirky with just about every room on a different level and two staircases. With 11 of us there you never knew who you were going to bump into and where.

The cottage was very nice and a bit quirky. The location was excellent and the village is beautiful. It was very well equipped. The only downside was the cleanliness. It was top clean only. The kitchen back splashes and cupboard fronts were dusty and greasy. There was dust on all the skirting boards and picture frames etc.
