Description

Outdoor enthusiasts will love this character cottage, with open fires, numerous footpaths and Lon Eifion cycle track close by.

Perched on the slopes of Cilgwyn Mountain overlooking Caernarfon Bay, this detached, former farmhouse has panoramic views out to sea from Porthdinllaen on the Llyn Peninsula to Anglesey. Set in four acres, in an old slate quarrying district, Gwyndy is ideally situated for walkers of all abilities. Walk in the footsteps of the old quarrymen and take in the breathtaking views from the various local routes. Choose from all the routes Gwynedd and Mon offers from the peak of Snowdon to the Llyn Peninsula and Anglesey Coastal Path. The most scenic, Snowdon Ranger and Rhyd- Ddu are easily accessible from the property. Cycling is an ever increasing past time in the area. The popular Lon Eifion can be accessed 1½ miles away in Groeslon (plenty of free parking) where you can cycle off road west to Bryncir or east to Caernarfon and onwards to Bangor. Lon Eifion also affords you a choice of detours. The area is also ideal for serious road cyclists and mountain bikers. Ride stages of the famous Snowdonia Etape route from the house or explore the local mountain paths. There is a bike store at the property for your use. For the adventurous, there’s Zip World in Bethesda (booking beforehand is advisable!) and its sister Zip World Caverns in Blaenau Festiniog. There are plenty of activities for children in the area with Greenwood Park a popular choice. Steam railways are in abundance here in Gwynedd, all easily accessible from the cottage, with the Welsh Highland Railway taking you through winding glens and valleys to Porthmadog (Dinas station is 4 miles away). Take a steam train to the summit of Snowdon from Llanberis. The medieval town of Caernarfon, 6 miles away, with its World Heritage Site castle standing proud by the Menai Straights, and the town itself is renowned for its excellent choice of eateries from snacks to gourmet. Golfers are well catered for, The James Baird St Deiniol in Bangor, 13 miles and The Royal Caernarfon, 6 miles, are just a few courses within easy reach. We had a really lovely holiday in Gwyndy, we all loved the cottage with its secluded location and wonderful views. Sheep and horses were the nearest neighbours! The Bates family.
