Red, roe and sika deer, eagles and red squirrels, and a historic church can be seen up in the glen at nearby Croick. There are poignant memories of the Highland Clearances on the windows where the crofters took refuge. Activities around Ardgay include mountain biking, kayaking, horse riding, salmon, trout and sea fishing. There is a picturesque golf course at Bonar Bridge as well as excellent golf courses, including the internationally renowned championship course at Dornoch, nearby. Good location and cottage had all you needed . The only thing that let the cottage down was the shower room, there were brown water marks all down the walls and also the couches in living room could do with a good clean, saying this it didn't spoil the holiday at all

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your feedback. I am aware of the water marks in the shower room due to a very wet and windy winter resulting in roof tiles blowing away. The roof had been repaired, however the shower room is due to be repainted in the next 2 weeks whilst the cottage has no visitors. The sofa and chairs will also be cleaned then. This is done annually along with cleaning all the carpets. I am so sorry that this was not done before your arrival.

Fantastic location, although the view of the Kyle is rapidly becoming obscured by the neighbour's Leylandii. Limited local facilities but only need to travel 20-30 minutes to find what you need. Although the property is rather tired, it is comfortable and homely. Kitchen is well equipped despite its age. Oh one thing not comfortable is the double bed! Really could do with being king size and a more comfortable mattress too is in order. Would I go again? Probably not, purely because of the bed. We even considered driving to Inverness and buying a memory foam topper to try and sort it out. Shame as it was lovely apart from that. So quiet but with easy access to some of Scotland's most stunning scenery. Did I mention the bed?

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your comments. Feedback is always appreciated. I am truly sorry that you found the double bed uncomfortable. This will be rectified as soon as possible with a mattress topper. The neighbour’s Leylandi trees unfortunately are out of my control. However I have offered to have them trimmed at my expense.

The cottage was fine for what we wanted. With fine views over the Dornoch Firth from the Kitchen.

Spoilt to purchase toilet rolls ..only one there. No kitchen roll. No tea towels. First cottage weneeded to bring bath towels or rent them. Tv only had sky box with no freeview tv. White Kettle was black inside ..decoration and good spring clean .that was listed in the visitor book in 2014 . Still poor decoration in 2015. Welcome tray had two shortbread biscuits. This cottage Is the Worst cottage we have used ..Grim for the Price paid

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; We have noted your comments and would like to address your concerns. Full, new toilet rolls are always provided in each bathroom. Tea towels and hand towels are kept in a kitchen drawer and the airing cupboard. Two new spares of each will now be added. Bath towels were not previously provided however following your feedback will be made available to future guests. Washing up liquid and dishwasher tablets etc. are kept in the cupboard under the sink. The TV does have Freeview but the signal can be poor in this area. A Sky box is available giving a good reception. The white kettle which was a year old probably darkened due to peaty water. However this has been replaced. The house is thoroughly cleaned between each let and extensively cleaned in spring. The carpets are cleaned by professional carpet cleaners. The Cottage interior was painted three years ago and porch exterior and shed earlier this year. The welcome pack had two twin packets of shortbread and tea, coffee and sugar. We always leave fresh milk in the fridge. There is also tea, coffee and sugar available in marked containers on the shelf above the sink. Contents of the welcome pack have been reviewed and extended. Previous tenants have written very favourable comments in the visitor’s book but not always on the website. The price of the Cottage is set by Cottages 4 You.
