Lovely cottage in a great location. Very close to the beach and only a short walk to the shops and bars.

Taking notice of bad reviews rather than good, I thought I may have a bad experience staying in Gull Cottage but I really enjoyed it. Even though it hardly stopped raining, it was warm and cosy inside ! Some of the pots and pans in a cupboard needed a wash but wherever I stay I wash what I'm using and take my own pan, I would not eat out everyday because of this ! The aerial needs attention but have been advised it is to be fixed. As for the sofas being worn , which I dreaded so checked under the throws and found them clean and in good condition as was the bed. I had read about the low ceilings and steep stairs so was very careful - for the price I found it good value for money.

The location is excellent. We found it ok for travelling with a dog. Adequate accommodation with a few issues. There is a problem with damp, which is most obvious on the right hand wall of the kitchen. You can smell it upstairs aswell. The parking is not ideal as there is a car mechanic's workshop next to the property which the neighbour to the left of the front door is involved in so during the week, when permits are not needed there are a variety of cars down the side of the property. Others tenants of the cottage have noticed this and put it in the guest book.As the neighbours directly opposite the front door have 2 cars, they need access to their garage and have to park outside it. The TV has intermittent signal and picture 'cuts' out. The vacumn cleaners are inadequate and smell stale. Sofa's a bit worn. A new powerful Dyson or an equivalent is needed, particularly for the removal of pet hair, from the carpets We will be staying in the area again, but, sadly, not here.

    Response from: Administrator

Response on behalf of the Owner; I am pleased you enjoyed Tynemouth and I am very sorry you experienced a few issues. I am available by telephone and I would have appreciated a call to be able to address these. The damp patch on the Kitchen wall has been repaired, the cause if this was a leak from the Roof in August 2015 when we had a very rainy month. Unfortunately my neighbour has his own garage business and this is something I am unable to control regarding the parked cars. The TV aerial has a booster system, but sometimes when there is bad weather, or storms this can sometimes cause interference with the television signal. The Sofas are clean and comfortable. We have two hoovers for the property, one for downstairs and one for upstairs and a supply of hoover bags. When guests bring their dogs, there is a sign in the property to say any hairs should be removed from the carpets up and downstairs before they leave. Unfortunately this is not always the case when customers leave the property.

A superb location central to the facilities of Tynemouth and Cullercoates ,tucked away only a street away from the coast, it would be difficult to find a more accessible location. The cottage provided a good standard of facilities and was a most comfortable holiday location. It would certainly be somewhere I would visit again.
