Description

Built with high attention to detail, this property is made with comfort in mind, making it an ideal retreat.

"A truly magical estate to escape to and unwind..."

High in the Devon hills above the Taw/Torridge estuaries Webbery Manor Estate is an oasis of rural tranquillity. Steeped in history and with several noteworthy owners, Webbery Manor Estate was first mentioned in the Doomsday Book. It was given to Nicholas the Crossbowman, by a grateful William the Conqueror as a Saxon manor. In the 17th century it passed to the Lippincott family, one of whom set sail with the Mayflower flotilla to settle in America. In the 18th century, John Cutcliffe, the grandson of the owner, fought at the battle of Waterloo and was personally promoted by the Duke of Wellington.
Set in 30 acres of parkland and woods, with grazing sheep, deer, owls, pheasant, birds of prey and other wildlife. The delightful gardens have numerous specimen trees and banks of rhododendrons giving a spectacular spring display. While the organic walled kitchen gardens grow some more unusual varieties of vegetables to the UK. You will find Romanesco, Cavelo Nero, and Pink Fir Apple potatoes to name a few, all complimentary subject to season and availability.

Once the home of the head groom this delightful cottage has been renovated to give spacious, luxurious accommodation. With its original boot room ideal for walking boots, and light and airy open-plan living/dining room/kitchen. With central, double-sided wood burning stove, keeping you toasty warm, and with French doors leading to secluded walled garden. With its impressive raised terrace it’s ideal for al fresco dining. The bespoke kitchen with its regency/gothic design and large range cooker is just the place to discuss your plans for the day. Both en-suite bedrooms overlook the secluded garden, the double has traditional French bed and the twin has period furniture.

Spend an enchanting day at Tapeley Park Gardens with its Italian garden, stunning views, woodlands and lakes, kitchen garden, tea rooms, and children’s play area. Fishing and horse riding can be found within 5 miles. Shops and pubs 5 miles.

Large open-plan living/dining room with central double-sided wood-burning stove and French doors to enclosed garden. Bespoke kitchen with range (gas hob/electric oven). Small boot room. A superb cottage on a beautiful, peaceful estate. Comfortable, cosy and equipped with everything needed for a relaxing holiday. The owners generously allow guests to stroll around their lovely grounds and help themselves to fruit and veg from the walled gardens. You don't need to travel far to find pretty little seaside villages, sandy beaches, good walks (the Tarka Trail), hearty pub food and delicious cream teas.

Very pleasant and relaxing holiday. The cottage was nicely furnished and very clean. It is situated in lovely well maintained surroundings including two walled gardens which provided plentiful fresh fruit and vegetables. Our hosts were very helpful and wanted to make sure everything was OK and that we enjoyed our stay.
