This good sized detached stone cottage with beautiful large multi-tiered garden and farmhouse-style kitchen, is located in Hayfield, a picturesque, historic village renowned for its gourmet public houses and more recently as the set for BBC’s popular drama ‘The Village’. The village also has a fish and chip shop and a cafe. Right on the edge of the Peak District National Park, this holiday property is ideal for both walkers and cyclists alike, being situated at the foot of the Kinder Scout, a traditional starting point for the Pennine Way and Sett Valley Trail. Lyme Park, the Hope Valley and caves of Castleton, and the spa town of Buxton with its famous opera house, museums and shops are just 20 minutes away, and the hugely popular market town of Bakewell, famous for its puddings, can be easily reached within 40 minutes. The magnificent historic houses of Chatsworth Estate and Haddon Hall are both easily accessible, and more locally, Hayfield itself even hosts its own annual events including the popular country show and sheepdog trials, well dressing and carnival ’May Queen’ and the three day music festival, Hayfest. We had a fab family New Year get together. Lovely spacious but cosy home. Split on three levels which meant each family could have a different floor. Very well equipped in the kitchen and with tonnes of books, dvds, games and wii which the kids loved. Great log burner too. Hope to return in the summer. Would highly recommend!

We had a lovely time staying with friends (2 couples, 2 toddlers and 2 babies). The cottage had lots to keep the toddlers entertained and is in a good location for exploring the Peaks. It was generally clean but the bathroom had mould in it.

A wonderful cottage in a great location. The rooms were well presented and warm and comfortable. The owner was extremely helpful whenever we need to speak to her.
