Description

Soak up the history of the charming village in which this property is set, or explore the Peak District National Park.

This good sized detached stone cottage with beautiful large multi-tiered garden and farmhouse-style kitchen, is located in Hayfield, a picturesque, historic village renowned for its gourmet public houses and more recently as the set for BBC’s popular drama ‘The Village’. The village also has a fish and chip shop and a cafe. Right on the edge of the Peak District National Park, this holiday property is ideal for both walkers and cyclists alike, being situated at the foot of the Kinder Scout, a traditional starting point for the Pennine Way and Sett Valley Trail. Surrounded by outstanding scenery, Twenty Trees and Bluebell Wood Nature Reserves are right on the doorstep, and the famous market town of Chapel-en-le-Frith can be reached in 10 minutes. Lyme Park, the Hope Valley and caves of Castleton, and the spa town of Buxton with its famous opera house, museums and shops are just 20 minutes away, and the hugely popular market town of Bakewell, famous for its puddings, can be easily reached within 40 minutes. The magnificent historic houses of Chatsworth Estate and Haddon Hall are both easily accessible, and more locally, Hayfield itself even hosts its own annual events including the popular country show and sheepdog trials, well dressing and carnival ’May Queen’ and the three day music festival, Hayfest. Lovely, comfortable cottage with a lot of space. Very well equipped and the beds are comfy. The location is ideal as there are plenty of walks to do from the house and it is also central for other attractions.

The house is absolutely fantastic, suitable for both family and groups of friends to visit, it's got lots of DVDs, games and a huge living room that we all loved! The location is not far away from the local pubs, which by the way is amazingly yummy! Phillipa the owner is also extremely friendly so overall a very nice weekend away!
