Description

Ideal for families, this property is great for exploring the seaside town and castle, and enjoying views towards Filey Brigg.

100 yards from beach

Britain’s first holiday resort, Scarborough has been welcoming visitors for over 360 years and is a delightful bustling seaside town catering for all the family. Beautiful sandy beaches of the North and South Bays are divided by a rocky headland, all proudly overlooked by Scarborough’s 12th century castle and affording uninterrupted views across the coastline as far as Filey Brigg. At the foot of the castle in the harbour, fishermen still land their catch. Beaches, cliff top walks and a busy shopping centre are all easily reached by the Victorian cliff lifts. A town of immense style with some of the finest parks and gardens, an elegant Esplanade and the magnificent Spa complex, where the only remaining seaside orchestra still performs. Something for everyone, by day or night with traditional Punch & Judy shows, donkey rides, seafront amusements, an indoor swimming pool, the Sea Life Centre, Peasholm Park, art galleries and museums, and top stars performing at the town’s theatres. Green Tor is just 100 yards from the North Bay, overlooking Peasholm Park, and is a spacious, 1930s detached house in its own large, private garden. Shops and pubs 200 yards.

Lovely house for large family gathering, there were 13 of us and we didn't feel like we were on top of one another.

We had a great holiday as it was my daughters 40th birthday and we were all together as a family. Green tor is an amazing house full of carachter and it was very well equipped. Our main gripe are the showers or, the lack of them! There are only two , and for 14 it's not nearly enough. And the lack of hot water during the day was annoying.I must say that there are plenty of toilets. We would go back there in a flash if this was resolved. Again Green Tor is a great house.

We loved our stay at Green Tor. It was comfortable and homely and had everything we needed. Fantastic location too.

This cottage is very out dated. It desperately needs a refurbishment. There was only 1 shower in the entire house which trickled water that wasn't very hot. Very disappointing for the amount of money we paid.

Have now stayed here 3 times over the past 5 years. Whilst it is very good value for money, and the location is excellent, it is in dire need of upgrading. We won't be staying again because we've now feel like we've 'done' Scarborough, and our family has out-grown the property.

Great holiday, the holiday pictures were outdated however and 2 of the rooms were different to the pictures. Other than that...all good :)

Sixth time here and sad to say the property needs lots of care and maintenance. Second television has gone, second frig has gone, internal and exterior decoration not kept up, even the washing line has disappeared. Such a shame as the size and position of the house make it so good for a family reunion.

    Response from: Administrator

Response on behalf of the Owner; We are sorry that these customers do not like our most recent improvements to Green Tor. Whilst the kitchen was being refurbished around three years ago - due to the popularity of the house we carried this work out in phases - the old small fridge remained for a few months in addition to the new large, two-door fridge / freezer. When the kitchen work was completed - new gas-fired Aga in addition to the existing oven and gas hob, oak strip flooring, larger dishwasher where the old fridge used to be and larger dining table which can seat 10 people in the kitchen. Similarly the old 21ins TV remained after it had been replaced by a new one. This would only play old video tapes and when the tube finally went three to four years ago it was removed. There is a new washing machine and new large ceiling mounted airer over the Aga which can dry a whole washing load overnight. We never provided an outside washing line. Other decorations are in progress and our aim is to restore some of the 1930s character of this wonderful house, 5mins from Scarborough's sandy and unspoilt North Bay. Original fittings are being sourced to replace ones not in keeping with the period interior we intend to re-create. The majority of our regular customers love these historic features and come back year after year.

It's a gorgeous house but oh so dirty this is the second time we have stayed there and it's no better than last time in the comments book it states that there will be two ensuites on the first floors completed by Easter they haven't even been started. Peeling wallpaper mould leaking gutters just a mess obviously it has not been inspected in the last couple of years otherwise there would have been something done about it . Sinking settees once you get on one you can't get up such a shame to leave a house in this state
