Green Park is an ideal family holiday home, situated just two miles from the beach and enjoying lovely bay views.

Situated in a quiet residential area and within 2 miles of sandy beaches, this property is ideally located for holidays all year round. The link-detached house is decorated and furnished to a very good standard. Whether upstairs or down there are fantastic views of Torbay – from Torquay to Brixham. Enjoy beautiful views whilst sitting on the large balcony or while dining alfresco on the extensive decking area in the garden. On the seafront, Paington Pier is over a hundred years old and home to a variety of amusements. There are many activities available locally including the theatre, which has shows throughout the year, 2 golf clubs, go-karting, sailing and bird watching , or visit the award-winning Paignton Zoo. There are some superb walks around this stretch of coastline or take a ferry to Torquay and visit the ’living coasts’, where penguins wander freely, and whilst there visit Kent’s Cavern, where the remains of some of Britain’s very earliest inhabitants (dating back approximately 25,000 years) were found, a very interesting tour. The Bay has a thriving fishing industry and fresh crab may be purchased at Paignton’s Harbour, or take the ferry to the fishing village of Brixham for the fresh fish market and see the replica of the Golden Hind, the original of which Sir Francis Drake sailed into the harbour. Torbay encompasses Torquay, Paignton and Brixham and offers opportunities for surfing, swimming, sailing, angling and there is also a yachting marina. Take a trip on the steam train from Paignton to Kingswear. Visit Agatha Christie’s summer house, nearby, then by ferry over to Dartmouth to sample its array of shops and restaurants. Then enjoy a walk around the castle before stopping in one of the tea shops for a Devon cream tea - a wonderful day out! Away from the coast there are plenty of places to visit, including the picturesque town of Totnes with its fine 16th-century buildings, Elizabethan market and farmer’s market, held once a week. No holiday would be complete without a trip to Dartmoor to climb one of the Tors or just take in its wild beauty. Then travel across the moor to Tavistock, where there is some more dramatic scenery. Take in the sights and stop to see the Dartmoor ponies or canoe in the many rivers of Dartmoor. There are many National Trust properties to visit around the area and you’ll find castles, abbeys, wildlife parks, steam trains and model railways all within easy reach, many open throughout the year. The Roman city of Exeter is approximately 15 miles away and has lovely walks or hire a bike at the quay and use the cycle path alongside the river. Beach 2 miles. Shop ¾ mile, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

    Great property with stunning views. Everything you needed was in the house. The walk to / from the beach is a problem so we drove half way and parked up in a quiet area near Southfield Avenue. Apart from that we would thoroughly recommend it.

    The best holiday we have had in UK. The property is amazing with fantastic views. I would definitely book again. Owners live next door who were very friendly and helpful could not do enough for us. But they also left you alone which is also nice. Property is extremely clean and is just perfect throughout. Our dog also loved the property.

    Photos of views in brochure do not do the truly fantastic views justice. Everything new clean and modern. Very quiet area

    Very friendly and welcoming host. Lovely property. Very well maintained. Excellent parking for one car, which made unloading easy. Well-equipped kitchen. View was superb. Private area for relaxation. Accommodation was spacious with excellent storage in each bedroom and access to decking via patio doors from all rooms. TV x 2. Bedrooms would have benefitted from TVs. Prefer tiles in bathrooms and ensuite rather than carpet and disappointed that whirlpool bath was not working. Overall, a super holiday let which we would love to visit again.

    Green Park was in a superb position, with an idyllic view, easy parking, a delightful holiday home. Quiet and straightforward to get to. The steps were somewhat onerous - but you had clearly explained this in the details of the property. We felt there should be an inventory, as we searched for a hair dryer. Altogether a lovely place to stay, and we are sure we will go back. Many Thanks.

    Very nice place would definitely go back. Thought it was a little nearer the sea in the description given. The area is very steep. but everything else was lovely.

    Very pleasant holiday but the weather meant we never got to appreciate the outside facilities.

    It's not good for people who don't like having to drive everyday as you have to go out every day / paper / food / eat out. It is very steep hill and a difficult journey from top to bottom. The accommodation did have a strange smell which the owner denied but we had friends over and they said before we mentioned it. Not as well equipped as others we have visited. We had a small dog and she will only "wee" on grass which meant we had to take her on lead every time which was a nuisance early morning / late night. The owner actually went into the accommodation once whilst we were out which we thought she should have asked our permission before she did it not when we came back. All in all views spectacular but it has nothing else going for it in our opinion.

    Response on behalf of the owner. I am very sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your stay at Green Park. After many years in the hospitality industry I do take complaints seriously. I will go through your issues in order. You contacted me to ask if I could take delivery of your food order from a supermarket's as it could only be delivered before your check in time. Of course, I readily agreed to do this for you. There is a garage which sells newspapers a short drive away alongside a public house which offers good food. Local shops are also a short drive away in the opposite direction. The fact that Green Park occupies a position high above Torbay (on a hill) explains why it affords such amazing sea views. It was my hope that the photographs of the view, on the website would clearly show that Green Park was indeed on a hill. Personally I have never found the uphill journey difficult in my car nor have I received complaints about this before. As you know from my previous correspondence, I took immediate action after your complaint of a strange smell by asking 3 neighbours to enter the house to do a smell check, they all reported no smell. I have already indicated my wish that you had reported this during your stay, I would have been happy to come and investigate then rather than after your departure. As you know I always keep air fresheners around the house, as I do in my own home but I do understand that some people do not like them. Again I am sorry to hear that you thought the house was not very well equipped but I am happy to say other guests have said quite the opposite. With regards to dogs there are some basic rules one of them being that we advise owners to exercise their pets outside the garden. I must endorse this on a health and safety basis as we do welcome parents with children and I must consider these people. There are many areas of grass around the location. I can confirm I did not enter the property. Our glazing repair man arrived unexpectedly between jobs to repair the front porch door, this is not the main door to the house and I accompanied him throughout. This was clearly explained to you on your return. At no time did I or anybody else enter the main door to the house, other than yourselves during your stay. Had I known of your mistaken belief in this matter at the time, I would have happily explained. I am always happy to help and assist in any way I can, at all times for the benefit of all my guests. Thank you for your review and I am happy to have had the opportunity to explain this to you.
