This property is located just 500 yards away from the heart of the old village of Hognaston, close to Ashbourne.

These attractive stone holiday cottages enjoy their own driveways and pretty, lawned gardens. Green Farm Cottage, (ref RPP6), adjoins the owners’ 17th-century farmhouse, and Green Farm Stables (ref RFFQ), stands detached. Tucked away down a little lane, they lie 500 yards from the heart of the attractive old village of Hognaston, which stands on a hillside overlooked by Hognaston Wynn. Many houses in the village date back to the 17th and 18th century, as does the pub. Within walking distance is beautiful Carsington Water, offering superb water sports, sailing and bike hire facilities with an area devoted to wildlife along with cycle and walking trails. Located on the edge of the Peak District, the cottages are just 4 miles from the picturesque market town of Ashbourne known as the ‘Gateway to Dovedale’. Other places to visit nearby include Bakewell, Matlock Bath, Haddon Hall, Chatsworth House and Keddleston Hall, as well as other National Trust and English Heritage properties. It is only a short drive to Dovedale and the other lovely dales of the limestone White Peak District, which offers great walking. A little further afield, visit Alton Towers theme park for a great day out for both adults and children alike, who will also enjoy Go Ape at Buxton. Why not spend a more relaxing day at the potteries in Stoke. Shop 2 miles, pub 500 yards.

    Beautiful, well-equipped cottage in a great location. Good for walking and cycling and a great pub (Red Lion) about 5 to 10 minutes walk away. We had a great family holiday with a party of 8 , ranging in age from 7 to 71, everybody loved it. The log burner was terrific but you need to go easy on air-flow settings and logs or you will have everybody overheating. Use of a lock-up bike shed provided and hosepipe for washing bikes. Owners were very helpful.

    We had a wonderful few days. The cottage is spacious and immaculately clean. The hosts are friendly and helpful. We'd definitely go again.

    Absolutely fantastic weekend in Green Farm Stables while husbands did dry stone walling weekend course. So handy for walks and retail therapy in Ashbourne. A beautiful place both internally and externally which was so comfy and welcoming. Stephen is a perfect host and made us feel at home in his stables. Hope to return next time our husbands are on a hedge building course.

    Green farm stables is a lovely 'chocolate box'style cottage and is a great base for exploring the Peak District. We were a mixed party which included both young adults and elderly parents and the cottage suited all our needs, especially the wifi for the youngsters. My elderly parents did have to be careful outside as There are a a couple of steps and a flagstone and shingle path which was a bit slippery in the rain. The owners provided a wonderful welcome tray which included wine and a delicious chocolate cake and the cupboards were well stocked with teabags, sauces etc. There is a great pub only a ten minute walk away, up a short but quite steep hill. The nearest shop is about two miles away and Ashbourne with supermarkets etc e.g Waitrose is four miles away. The kitchen/ diner is very cosy, the four bedrooms are spacious and the lounge has a wood burner, free view tv and is stocked with book and games. We throughly enjoyed our stay would definitely come again!

    An excellent cottage and despite a little hiccup, caused by one of my group's incompetence, a great time was had by one and all. I cannot fault the owner Stephen for his help over the weekend. Overall, the cottage is fab. 4 great size bedrooms, a lovely farmhouse kitchen, ideal for congregating and a lovely cozy lounge, with log burner, for those cold nights. Would recommend the local pub, The Red Lion for both atmosphere and food.

    Beautiful cosy cottage in a fabulous location. The property is spacious and well equipped. Great walking right from the doorstep. Would love to stay here again.

    Lovely cottage, tastefully renovated. Plenty of parking and great walks straight from the door. Seating in lounge a bit limited but nice large kitchen, which was the focal point of the house.
