We had a wonderful stay for my husbands 50th birthday, much so down to Helen and her wonderful hospitality. We arrived just as the Beast from the East did and were snowed in in the cottage for a night without food. Helen provided us with food and was just brilliant in helping get our weekend back on track despite the poor weather. The house is fab for a big group of people, everyone really enjoyed it and many talked of renting it for their own families. Bedrooms are lovely and all in the main house has an ensuite which is amazing. Hob in the kitchen could do with being replaced as we couldn’t see the dials, which made it very difficult to cook on. Perhaps a few more big pots and pans. But overall a well catered for house and cottage in a beautiful location. I would book again!

Great fun, the play barn was perfect for kids of all ages. House is great, only problem was bedrooms down stairs meant when putting kids to bed had to be perfectly still upstairs as it echoed around a bit. However kids slept fine and it was the perfect house to 14 adults!

Spacious & comfortable accommodation for a super multi-family break. Games barn impressively equipped with games to keep us occupied under cover. Large dining table perfect for us all to eat together (group of 12).

Had a lovely time with the family staying here. The cottage is perfect for big family gatherings. Loved the dining table and space for everyone. The barn is also great for all ages to enjoy.

Excellent well equipped, spacious accommodation. Very nice ‘landlady’ for whom nothing is too much trouble. Highly recommend.

A great secluded cottage with everything a large family needs! Our family’s second visit in 2 years and we will return. Clean, well supplied, and a great games barn. Only low score is for local amenities as the nearest shop is probably 3 miles away - but that is part of the charm for us! Thank you!!

As a big property for a large group of people you expect the equipment to reflect the numbers and unfortunately we found the kitchen to be somewhat limited in kit with many items such as the dishwasher and extractor fan not working. We enjoy spending time together and sharing the cooking and whilst the property has the size to suit, it was lacking on quality of equipment. The showers and water pressure are pretty poor as well so much so that in the master suite you had to have a bath which actually took a huge amount of time to run. Mouldy curtains in the main house lounge, flies everywhere, condensation, stained carpets and sofas that had long since seen their best, beds that broke and handles that came off bedside units and kitchen cupboards were a sad reflection that the property needs a facelift. So much promise and a very friendly owner who is just next door but we unfortunately did not feel we were getting value for money at all. Upon leaving we did mention a few things to the owner, who said 'well if people don't tell me how am I supposed to do anything about it?'. It is fair to say however that the dishwasher was commented on some 12 months previous to our visit so perhaps they don't read their own visitor book. The games barn is good, however even this is not enough to counteract the house quality unfortunately. We were joined by a house pet as well during our stay which you expect in the countryside to some extent but having a shrew run around the living room and kitchen looking for scraps is not ideal. So much promise in terms of land and space plus a lovely welcome cake, that the upkeep did not deliver on.

Cottage is in a lovely quiet area so a car is needed. Really comfortable, very friendly welcome, great games room - we had a great long weekend.

The sixteen of us enjoyed our party long weekend at Great Horner. The owner was very helpful and a lovely home made cake was given on arrival. This is a great place for a large party with seating around the dinning room table for all sixteen of us. We would recommend this to all.

16 of us stayed in the main house and the annexe. Excellent sized table inside and out to sit round and catch up. Large games barn with crazy golf, badminton, table tennis and table football. Ideal for keeping adults and adolescents out of mischief or for use on a rainy day. Car needed as this is down country lanes and isolated, however this made it lovely and peaceful. Owner very helpful and the chocolate cake was a lovely touch. Minor negatives. Some of the bedrooms in the main house seemed a little damp and it could do with an extra kettle. The annexe has two bathrooms but only one sink. We would definitely stay again.

We had a group of 15, including two small children. One of the highlights was the possibility of all eating together at the enormous dining table, as well as having a well equipped kitchen for the cooks. We also enjoyed the games barn, with something for everyone; we played table tennis, mini-golf and badminton every evening, which was great for the kids and all the competitive people in the party. Finally, the location and outside of the house is wonderful, including a big comfortable table for coffee in the garden, a field for the kids to race around on, and a real sense of peace and seclusion. Helen our host was very friendly and welcomed us with a delicious chocolate cake and flowers - the perfect start to the holiday! There are a few very minor issues that didn't spoil the holiday but could improve the property - the wifi signal isn't great and some of the bedroom furnishings and plumbing are a little tired. Overall, this was a great place to stay, though, where everyone felt at home, with big spaces for community and enough different things to do that we could split up to follow different interests. We had a great time, saw lots of interesting local sights, and would recommend this property to other visitors.
