Our 2nd visit to the cottage. Love Boat of Garten and the woodlands behind the cottage makes it excellent for our dog and grandchildren.

Great cottage for a large group, plenty of space. It was comfortable, homely, plenty equipment. The only slight negatives were that the oven didn't work very well and the bedroom near the kitchen was chilly.

Nice location. Close to local shop and pub. Easily accessible from A9. No internet access and Phone signal is non existent inside cottage (needed to go outside for reception)

Another great week at Granite Cottage. Such a welcoming, comfortable atmosphere. Very homely with an abundance of space for our party of six. Near to local facilities but gives you a sunny, peaceful back garden.

We spent Christmas at Granite Cottage and were delighted with our choice. The cottage was lovely. Starting with the large wood-panelled hallway and staircase, to the living rooms with open fires. Some of the dining furniture has been updated since the photos on the website. All the bedrooms were a good size with plenty of storage. The kitchen was extremely well equipped. We dined in every day and found the fridge and separate freezer gave us plenty of space for our weeks-worth of Tesco delivery. The oven was perfectly capable of cooking our large Christmas day feast. The absolute only thing I couldn't find were champagne glasses (and that isn't a complaint but an observation). They really did have everything else we needed. The bedding was ample for the -7 degree nights and the central heating and log fires kept us cosy. Boat of Garten is a gorgeous little village with a beautiful expanse of woodland right behind the main row of houses on the high street that runs on for miles and miles. The deer were often spotted on my morning runs and the scenery was more than I could have asked for. Aviemore is only a short drive away and the nearest ski resort (with amazing sledging as well) only a 20-30 minute drive away. The caretaker of the cottage was very friendly. We had very good pre-arrival communication and a Christmas tree and some decorations were even put up for us. It does say in the cottage details that the caretaker only has a limited time to prepare between guests and that guests are kindly requested to leave the cottage as they would like to find it. We certainly found it in perfectly acceptable order. We have had an amazing Christmas thanks to a quality cottage in a magical location.

Me and my mother-in-law had to clean all the cups, plate's, cutlery, and glass but all so the draws and cupboard's because it was all dirty that was the first thing. Then the fire hadn't been emptied so my husband did that. There had been no dusting done as I ran my fingers over the fire place and picture frame's. The beds were so hard and not a comfortable sleep for all of us and the blankets where not the warmest. There could be a curtain on the back door and in the hall way to make it wormer when you have the heating on it goes out the windows and doors . Lighting where you park could be good . We enjoyed it for the space and where it was ,as we got married down the road we will be staying in Boat of Garten again but not at this place sorry

    Response from: Administrator

Response on behalf of the Owner; I am sorry you felt the cottage was not up to standard and I have brought your comments to the attention of my caretaker/cleaner. She assures me she cleaned the cottage but it was done when the previous people vacated a week earlier and I am thinking that in that time more dust had settled. However, everything else should have been clean including of course the crockery and cutlery and I am sorry if you found that was not the case. I am not able to check the cottage myself between each let and have to rely on local resources but I have asked that the cottage is checked more thoroughly in the future.
