The ancient farmhouse at Werngochlyn dates back to the 12th century. It nestles in open farmland underneath the Skirrid Mountain and the four comfortable holiday cottages are sympathetically converted from stone farm buildings set around the farmyard. The setting is perfect for children of all ages (adults too!). There is plenty of room to run around and explore – and plenty of animals to befriend…. a pair of Kune-kune miniature pigs, a very large Gloucester Old Spot, a donkey, goats, sheep, chickens (you can collect your own eggs for breakfast if you want to), ducks, dogs, cats and loads of horses and ponies – including a tiny rescue pony named Tinkerbell.
You could stay around the farm all day – with a heated, indoor swimming pool, hot tub, games room and riding school on site with tuition for all ages from 4 years plus and then a BBQ in the evening. There are footpaths running directly from the farm and dogs are welcome. You are ideally place to explore the Brecon Beacons, Black Mountains, Usk and Wye Valleys and the fantastic countryside that surrounds the nearest market town of Abergavenny which is only 3 miles away – home of the Food Festival. It boasts good shops and a market, a cinema, theatre, castle and museum as well as good choice of pubs, cafes and restaurants including Michelin starred ‘Walnut Tree’ which is within walking distance of the farm. An 18-hole golf course and driving range is only ½ mile away. An enjoyable stay that will have you wanting to return. Shop 3 miles.

All on ground floor: Living/dining room. Kitchen. 3 bedrooms: 1 double, 2 twin. Bathroom with toilet. Shower room.

Central heating, electricity and bed linen included. Cot. High chair. Electric cooker. Shared laundry room. Dishwasher. Wi-fi. Sitting-out area and picnic bench. Barbecue. Ample parking. Shared indoor heated swimming pool, open 14th March-2nd November. Shared games room. Two pets welcome, under strict control please (livestock). WTB 3 Dragons. NB: Unfenced shallow stream in grounds.

This was an idyllic place for a holiday. It has a lovely, relaxed atmosphere and perfect for children who love animals- especially horses. The owner, Maggie, is wonderful and our children loved the riding they did there. A brilliant location for great walks- we'll definitely be going back.

A perfect rural retreat for a family with two young children (aged 1 and 4). Plenty animals around to pet and the games room is great (and safe!) on wetter days. There was absolutely nothing in the kitchen to get you started e.g. tea, coffee etc but that wasn't a problem. Just something to be aware of. The drive down to the cottage is pretty bumpy. Again, not a problem but something to take note of if you have a sporty motor! Loved the pool and hot tub and will definitely visit again.

We had an amazing holiday in Granary cottage! When we arrived it was warm and comfortable, with stunning views. We made full use of the hot tub and pool, and visited abergavenny town. The dogs loved the outside space too! Our only minor issue was the lack of hand towels (we'd be told to bring towels but assumed it was bath/shower towels). Overall, a fantastic stay and we'd love to be back!

Absolutely fantastic place. Pictures don't do this place justice. Owners are lovely and very friendly. Cottage is lovely, very homely. All needs are catered for with the added bonus of the pool an hot tub which are brilliant. Riding lessons are fantastic an well worth doing. A stunning place to wander round an feel at home in. We will definitely be returning

It was a lovely place. Hostess great. We were disappointed that basics like pepper and salt, tea and coffee weren't provided; nor a hairdryer. Though instructions say you can ask if you need anything. There was only one drawer to putany food stuffs apart from fridge, so a bit more cupboard space in kitchen wouldn't go amiss. The driveway was a bit rough going and could do with some of the holes filling in. Lovely and peaceful location though. Despite all above we loved it.probably not as smart as some places but homely.

Overall basic but clean accommodation in a secluded area so a vehicle is a must. The owners were friendly . The onsite pool was used daily and my daughter took advantage of riding lessons offered at the onsite stables. Abergavenny is a lovely market town which is close by. Perhaps a larger TV would be more appropriate in the lounge, due its size. Overall due to the good weather we had a really enjoyable stay.

Lovely cottage in a lovely location, sofa,s were not so comfy but didn't ruin the stay kids loved the pool and the animals. Would suggest the little garden is made safe so small dogs can't escape would have been nice to have been able to leave french doors open to garden and let dogs run free but they could get through the fence.just some chicken wire would fix it.otherwise highly recommended.

We spent a week there with the grandchildren, we chose this farm as it had a indoor pool just in case of rain, it rained all week, yet we had an amazing time spending most of our time at the farm and in the pool ,the children loved it ,and didn't want to go out , we played games , swam , fed the animals, collected eggs for breakfast, used the games room every day so all in all the children had a amazing holiday. And I had no worries of the house as it was very spacious with good solid furniture the children couldn't damage. And detached so no worries of the noise of the children, would use this farm again if I was taking the 4 children away again. Thank you for a lovely stay.
