The location of this cottage is fantastic. The village is beautiful and you are in easy reach of the entire Peak District. The house is tired and out of date. Whilst it had everything we needed, we felt it was tatty and needed a lot of love to bring it into the 21st century. It has the potential to be fantastic, but falls a long way short at the moment. There are plenty of far better cottages out there.

It is in ideal postition, very quiet village, nice pub. Only downside would be no shop, so a car is required. Wonderful walks on the doorstep(no car) we found the villagers friendly. Nice garden with furniture.

This cottage is in a great location, but is let down by the fact that the state of the cottage itself is terrible! These are just a few of the problems we had there: - The washing machine was broken, however even if it did work we wouldn't have used it as the seal was full of mould. The machine itself and a very bad smell to it. - The aerial to the radio was broken, and they had seen fit to replace it with a coat hanger! - The oven was disgusting and full of grime, and smelt badly of grease. The controls were worn and the outside of the oven was covered in drip marks. - Some of the towels were stained with dried brown marks, I can only guess at what it was! - One of the duvets was badly ripped and had the stuffing showing. - The bath had a very bad crack in the side panel (about 12 inches long). This was sharp and not safe for young kids. - There were dirty stains in the carpet surrounding the toilet. - The fridge / freezer door was covered with muck and grime. - One of the bedrooms was full of mould around the windows. - The other bedroom was so small, that the wardrobe door hit the bed when trying to open the door. So the wardrobe door could only be half opened. - The dishwasher tray was broken, and would fall out if pulled open more than half-way. A sign from the owner asked not to leave the dishwasher unattended. - The taps in the kitchen sink were broken, and would turned around endlessly. This made it difficult to turn them off. - The TV was at least 20 years old (a minor issue, but considering the price of this cottage!) All in all the worst cottage we have stayed in. Fortunately the area is wonderful. Many people seemed to visit the Church Inn up the road, and there is a great book store nearby, the village also has a very nice playground as well as many lovely walks. This is a lovely village, and there seems to be many holiday cottages there. If you want to stay at this village, I would recommend it, but be sure to avoid this cottage until it is repaired and cleaned up.
