Description

Situated within 40 acres of land yet providing easy access to exploring South Devon; Templer Cottage is a fantastic holiday base.

With wonderful views over Dartmoor and situated within South Devon countryside, this stunning complex of barn conversions (Refs HHHX and HHHW) was once part of the Stover Estate. Converted in early 2008 in a contemporary style and equipped to a high standard, with the addition of modern day comforts, they make the perfect place for couples, families and larger parties wishing to holiday together.
They offer wonderful all year round accommodation, with each cottage boasting its own patio area, with garden furniture and barbecue. Once a working farm and an old miniature railway site, Gorse Blossom Farm has some 40 acres, where guests can wander around at their leisure and which offers a haven for wildlife, including birds of prey, badgers and the lesser horseshoe bat, which has made its home here. An all weather surface tennis court will keep children and adults entertained.
Being close to the A38 makes this the perfect place from which to explore South Devon, Torquay (with its sandy beaches, 12 miles) and Plymouth, 25 miles (to see the Hoe, the Barbican, the National Marine Aquarium which is ideal for children and adults). The Eden Project (approximately
1½ hours drive) is a fabulous day out. Crealy Adventure Park is 20 miles. Exeter has a magnificent cathedral and quay, whilst a boat trip can be taken up the river to two stunning pubs. There are many villages to explore and stop off for a Devon cream tea. Dartmoor is on the doorstep, with its stunning scenery and heather clad rocky tors and ponies, and is a walkers’ paradise at any time of year, with Becky Falls (rocks and waterfalls), 8 miles. Paignton not only has more sandy beaches, but also a famous zoo.
Visit the South Hams, taking in Kingsbridge, Salcombe and Dartmouth. Go the other direction and take in the Jurassic Coast, or visit Beer, Branscombe and Seaton to take a ride on the Seaton Tramway. There is so much to see and do that visitors will have to keep coming back year after year to take it all in. Shop 500 yards, pub ½ mile.

Booking at the last minute this wasn't our first choice of cottages, but we couldn't have been happier with our final choice! We were a group of friends getting together for a weekend catch-up (3 adults and 5 children). The cottage was spotless and well equipped. The layout is great with the kitchen/lounge/diner all being one room. This meant food prep was sociable and we could attend to the kids easily. The kids loved the space and had great fun playing hide and seek all over the house. It didn't matter that it wasn't warm enough to use the garden. We did have an issue with the smoke alarms (which could of course happen anywhere), but I couldn't fault the way Zoe dealt with it all, really taking her responsibility seriously. We would go back there.

We had a fun weekend at Templer Cottage. Zoe greeted us on arrival and the cottage is very highly finished and clean and tidy. The scones, clotted cream and jam on arrival were great too!
