Description

Beams aplenty adorn this cosy home which is a wonderful base from which to discover the charms of the Cotswolds.

Glebe Cottage nestles close to the village church, in the heart of unspoilt Blockley, one of the larger of the Cotswold villages and once a major centre for the silk industry. Formerly part of the adjacent Cotswold vicarage, set midway between Moreton-in-Marsh and Chipping Campden, it has been completely modernised and converted into a very comfortable and well-equipped holiday cottage and provides a wonderful retreat from which to explore this lovely area – Stratford-upon-Avon, Cheltenham, Broadway and Stow-on-the-Wold are all within easy reach as well as pleasant walks amid the Dovedale Wood. Back in the village there are two good pubs serving food and an outstanding village store/post office with café and delicatessen. Shop/P.O. 50 yards.

Beamed living room with gas woodburner in Cotswold stone fireplace and French doors to garden. Fitted kitchen with breakfast area. Double bedroom with 5ft bed, vaulted beamed ceiling and en-suite bathroom with over-bath shower and toilet.

A small and cosy cottage in a very peaceful village. This is a place to stay if you want to "charge your batteries ". A good place to explore the area. So many pretty villages around. Definitely a cottage I would not hesitate to recommend.

Lovely cottage in an outstanding area and is comfortable and compact, ideal for two people and the courtyard was a relaxing place to sit on a warm evening. The shop and cafe are a great asset to the village, the staff were very pleasant and welcoming. There is so much to see and do in the Cotswolds that we always go home not having managed to tick all our boxes.

We know Blockley well and the cottage is ideally located. Some of the items in the cottage were a bit 'tired' (e.g. chipped crockery). Our main difficulty was in getting the 'temperamental' gas fire to work. In the end we had to call out the owner, who wasn't able to come immediately. More precise written instructions would have helped. We have rented accommodation on many, many occasions and one of the real benefits is an owner or caretaker who is readily available to sort out snags. In our experience, a rented property with no snags is something of a myth.

Very cozy & warm cottage shame that the taps drip water in kitchen and bathroom. Kitchen cupboard under sink falling apart. Could do with a wall clock in the kitchen to know time. Also rather a lot of cobwebs everywhere. We did note that the landlord has replaced appliances in the kitchen and the new wifi worked very fast. This is our second stay at the cottage and we come from the USA to stay here and will do so again if the cottage is available when we are in UK next.

The cottage is very comfortable and small, the kitchen and sitting room being one room. Parking is difficult, but the village stores and park for our dog are a 5 minute walk away. The tv took some working out, but we are not used to using Sky. The kitchen could do with more equipment, simple things like more china and a sieve for rice. A spare toilet roll in the bathroom is also needed. If you can overlook these very small niggles, the cottage is comfortable and warm. Do note that the garden is a small patio area, with no grass which confused our dog.

Description says 'one bedroom' but it is a 'gallery room' and should be described as such. En-suite fails to say washbasin is in 'bedroom'. Very limited wardrobe space and no large drawers. Kitchen says 'dining area' but there isn't one, no storage for food and no sharp knives or fruit spoons. Otherwise this is a beatiful clean cottage in a perfect area. We really enjoyed our stay.
