Welsh Country Cottages

An inspiring collection of properties chosen for their character, luxury and heritage, all graded 4 star and above..

Description

Explore the Millennium Coastal Path, which leads you along the idyllic shores, with spectacular views of the Gower Peninsula (AONB).

Nestled peacefully down a quiet lane in the small village of Llangennech, this pet-friendly, traditional, detached former barn has been restored to a very good standard, with a private patio and garden with a gas BBQ, making it a perfect touring base for a family or couple looking to explore west Wales. ‘Glanmwrg Fawr’ has retained much of its original charm, character and lots of welcoming touches have been added, such as wi-fi and a large freesat TV with DVD player. Adjoining the owner’s home, and tastefully decorated throughout with spacious living areas and disabled facilities available, the access is wheelchair friendly and on the ground floor there is a walk-in bath with a removable hydraulic bath seat, and a bedroom has adjustable beds. The holiday home boasts a large games room with all the facilities to entertain the family during inclement weather. The glistening Loughor Estuary is on the doorstep and provides a haven for waders and geese at the National Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust Centre, 3 miles. The picturesque Millennium Coastal Path (and 12 mile bike track) to Pembrey Country Park leads you along the idyllic shores, with spectacular views of the Gower Peninsula (AONB). For a family outing, visit the scenic Pembrey Country Park, 8 miles, and discover its 7 miles of sandy beaches set within the forest, featuring a dry ski slope, horse riding trails and model steam engines. For the sports enthusiasts, visitors can enjoy a round of golf at the Jack Nicklaus course or watch live sport at the Llanelli Scarlet’s Rugby Stadium and nearby Ffos Las racecourse. Away from the coast, Carmarthenshire countryside is just as promising with its array of charming market towns such as Llandelio and Carmarthen, as well the many enchanted medieval sites dotted around the county, including Kidwelly and Dinefwr 12th century castle and Heritage park. Beach 3 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

Large living room with gas coal-effect fire, French doors and wooden floor. Spacious dining room with wooden floor. Farmhouse-style kitchen with wooden floor. Games room. Double bedroom with 6ft bed. Bathroom with over-bath shower and toilet. First floor: Two double bedrooms, each with en-suite shower room and toilet; one with 6ft zip and link bed (can be twin beds on request).

Just spent a lovely weekend here for our daughters 10th birthday. Wow. The place just keeps going on and on. Everything you need is there and more. Lovely milk, bread, butter, cheese and tomatoes left for us in a hamper. We will definitely be coming back.

A comfortable cottage some way from the Gower beauty spots. The road in through the industrial area was not particularly welcoming. Overall it represented value for money and we enjoyed our stay, which was helped by the lovely weather.

Unfortunately my mother in law was admitted to hospital just before our holiday so she was unable to go and my wife would not leave her as she was told her mum had cancer which was terminal. I was ordered to go and had to travel by train to Llangennech which only has 4 trains each way a day . With no company the holiday was a bit lonely but bus travel was cheap and frequent so the holiday was ok however the cottage was very comfortable and clean and we hope to return again soon when the situation allows. Peter the caretaker was most helpful with his local knowledge. Thanks for a break and the affordable and welcoming holiday

We were a group of friends staying for a long weekend. The cottage was clean and very well equipped and although the owners could not be there to greet us they left a lovely welcome pack of local produce.
