Pleasant cottage in lovely countryside. Not enough space for 8 people. Problems with the heating system when we were there ie early October. Very clean, the caretaker and her husband were helpful and friendly.

Like the other reviews converted Barn has been restored to a high standard. Down a narrow lane situated on it's own as a detached building it's a great location with superb views. Very dog friendly (downstairs only) and is surrounded by fencing so the dogs can run around outside whilst we enjoyed the garden furniture and used the BBQ (we had great weather last week). Very comfortable size for four adults (two couples) and dogs. There is a trail that goes by the house and people general say hello as they pass. The trail is a short walk to the centre of Wirksworth (10 minutes) which is very handy, go the other way and you have good walks and stunning views (steep hills to climb first though). Some superb pubs within around 1 mile that were very dog friendly (Malt Shovel Inn and Rising Sun stood out for us). We will go back which in itself is a great recommendation...

We found George Mine Barn a perfect place to stay with our 2 dogs & a great base from which to tour the Peak District. We had everything we needed & the coffee maker was a great extra. we found the utility room a real bonus on rainy days, a space to put wet coats & dry off the dogs before going in the house. Would definately stay here again 😊

The cottage was cold in the evening as the under floor heating in the lounge area was not working or high enough. (It was a good job there was a log burner but we ran out of logs on the second night and did not know where to purchase anymore). We called the caretaker on the first night and he arranged for the engineer to come, but he turned up just as we were leaving which was not any use to us at all.

Cute cottage, well thought out in a nice enclosed location. We were put off by the visits from the cottage owners parents continuously for the first few days planting bulbs, checking bins, they always seemed to come and although friendly this was the first time in 9 years my partner and I had the first days without the kids we would have liked to feel a little less under watch. Fire worked lovely, bed linen comfortable, cooking equipment good couldn't suss under floor heating but fire would heat it up quickly. lovely friendly area to stay.

This was our second visit to this cottage and it did not disappoint. It is such a comfortable cottage and a real get away from it all. Great location - lovely views. As walkers there is still so much to do from the door - we will be back to explore further. The cottage has everything you could want - a real home from home. Location good for the local shops - just a short walk. Our 10 year old beagle enjoyed coming back - she just loves the garden - very dog friendly. Another perfect week - thank you

A charming cottage in a delightful setting. Extremely well located for access to the countryside but within comfortable travelling distance many attractions.
