What an absoloutely stunning cottage. I visited with my wife and 3 of her friends and our 2 dogs. The cottage was supplied with butter, fresh bread and eggs, tea, coffee, sugar and plenty of toilet roll. And the general essentials for cleaning etc. We really didn’t need anything with us at all. The cottage was perfect, homely and welcoming and the grounds were beautiful for walking. Beaches and little villages near by which we’re lovely. We would definitely visit the cottage again.

We stayed at the cottage for a week, only the two of us and our dog, we really enjoyed the stay, the cottage was so big, clean, well equipped, warm and a wonderful surrounding to look out on. There is very little to do there only to enjoy the surrounds, peace and calm. It was difficult to find and we did get lost trying to find it, it would benefit from a sign outside on the road directing you to the cottage. Directions to the supermarkets to get supplies would be helpful in the cottage, but thankfully we had out iPad with us and the cottage had wifi , which was great, as it did not say on 'the cottages ' website . A very pleasant surprise. Nowhere near for a meal out, but we did visit diffent place around the area and found very good eateries. North bewick was lovely and ate at a sea food restaurant on the harbour, fabulous. Beaches in this area are lovely and dog friendly too. Visited dunbar and Musselburgh, dunbar harbour was so interesting too, lovely places to eat there too. The weather held out for us too, all in all a very good week in lovely surrounds , yes we do want to come again

Highly recommendable if you can cope with a really remote place.

Garden Lodge is an amazing place to holiday if you like being in a remote and historical setting. We loved the fact that it was located on a working estate and the surrounding countryside is beautiful. In addition, you are only 40 mins approx. drive to Edinburgh. We had a problem with a noisy smoke alarm and this was resolved immediately-thank you Gayle. We also very much appreciated the thoughtfulness of leaving groceries and flowers for us on arrival. Garden Lodge was suitable for all ages, our family of 5 ranged from age 10-73 and we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our only suggestions would be to have a small sign to the cottage on the road as we missed the turning to the private road several times and also to repair the road leading to the cottage.
