Excellent cottage, lovely garden & it was secure for the dog. Owners on hand if you needed them and have a chat which was very nice. Lovely cake waiting for us, nice thought.

The cottage and garden are beautiful, in lovely surroundings. The kitchen is extremely well equipped and everything was very clean. The garden was ideal and very secure for our dog, but a small dog may be able to get under the gate. We had checked the online details very thoroughly and no-where did it mention that dogs are not allowed upstairs, but upon arrival we found several notices to that effect. Be warned if your dog normally sleeps in your bedroom! We were disappointed to find that there was no welcome pack, not even a pint of milk, but on the plus side, the owner had made us some chocolate cake, which was probably the best I have ever tasted. As far as we were concerned, the real problem was noise - we only stayed for three nights and had intended to eat outdoors as the weather was beautiful, but were subjected to extremely loud jetwashing very close to us on two evenings, once for over an hour and continuing until after eight o'clock. We were prepared for some noise as we knew that the estate was a working farm, but had not anticipated this level of noise in the evening. I think we were just unlucky this weekend, but it did spoil what we had hoped would be a relaxing and peaceful break.

The drive onto the estate at Stock Gaylard is lovely, what made it even better was the sunshine. On seeing the cottage we were not disappointed. We were met by Wendy who showed me around and gave me all the info on the heating ,the fire etc. The cottage was warm clean and comfortable which is all you could want and need. The garden was fully enclosed for the dog .We took a walk around the grounds on the first morning and met Andy who owns the estate and said we were welcome to walk anywhere on the estate obviously keeping the dog on her lead where there was any sheep/cows. The icing on the cake was when we drove out the cottage the first morning and seeing the deer herd in the driveway. We visited lots of places of interest in Dorset such as West Lulworth and Durdle Dor,Bridport and even went to Port Isaac in Cornwall..a long drive but worth it!! Coming back to the cottage after a day out and sitting in the garden in the sunshine finished the day off perfectly. It's definitely a cottage we would go back to,it was a long drive from home in the Lake District but worth it.
