We had a brilliant weekend at Gabriels Hall. 4 adults and 6 children, plenty of space, loved the huge lounge and the fun décor too. And once we found the heating controls, it was as warm as toast in there! Would definitely go back. Very comfortable and well equipped (we thought a hairdryer would be a good addition, along with instructions on heating/fuse box etc) Good location, quiet but close to the seafront and what seemed like a good pub with live music, walk everywhere from the house. Looking forward to our next visit!

It is a beautiful house with incredible furnishings, the beach front is great forvs morning run with the dog and the small enclosed beaches for children are fab. You must try fhe local cafe just down from the house the food and value for money is awesome wish we had gone sooner to try the whole menue. The beds are very comfortable and the living room great place to all get together in the evening.

Not a 5 star property. Bathrooms inadequate. Top floor, no toilet, no heating: middle floor, wet room which meant the toilet was usually wet - as was the floor and also a huge puddle outside the door:, ground floor, ok, but insufficient for a 3 storey house. Heating inadequate. Cold throughout, especially the top floor bathroom and the dining room - which had a huge ventilation hole in the wall through which icy wind blew. The kitchen underfloor heating mostly did not work at all leaving a very cold stone floor. Condemned fire in the dining room had not been replaced by any form of heating - radiator was totally inadequate for a room of this size. No heating in hall or landings left a cold reservoir draining heat from the rooms that were a bit warm. Inadequate storage space in most bedrooms. Parking very difficult as once parked, the driver was unable to get out of the car without climbing over the handbrake - a problem for elderly or large drivers No information folder. We had to deal with a blown fuse in the dark with no idea where the fuse box was located. We found it where it should be under the stairs, but it was buried under a huge pile of towels and cushions, so we had not looked there at first. (fire hazard?) there were several torches, but none worked - we had a torch in the car, but it was a distance away and we didn't want to go out on a cold night! I could go on. The owner tried to be helpful and was very pleasant, but truly this property is not 5 star - it is also not really suitable for dogs or children. The 'courtyard' is damp and tiny

    Response from: administrator

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your comments. I am sorry you did not enjoy your holiday. Regarding the toilet, as was explained to you at the time I was awaiting a toilet being put in. We do want to ensure our guests have the best experience, and therefore we have listened to customer feedback and have added a macerator WC to the top floor bathroom. There is also a radiator going into the en-suite. In addition we have put in an extra 3 z-beds which can be used in the double bedrooms for children to make it more adaptable and flexible for families. Regarding the wet room, it serves its purpose as what it is meant to be- a room with a shower; therefore unfortunately this means that the floor will get wet. Regarding the heating, I received an email from you on the evening you arrived that the heating didn't seem to working properly. I have spent a lot of money on the heating to ensure it is adequate I also have a 5 star contract with the energy suppliers in case of any problems. I managed to get an engineer for 8.30am the next day who advised there was a fault with the thermostat, he then managed to replace it with a new one the same day and confirmed to me that after testing it everything was all ok. I then myself went to the property to check the heating and it was on at 30 degrees and spent a couple of hours there and it felt nice and warm. I feel the heating is adequate and there is heating all over the property. Regarding the fires, the property only advertises that there are 2 fires; these are in the living room. The 3rd one is currently not working but I am awaiting parts and this will shortly be fixed at the same time as the radiator and toilet go in. Regarding the parking, unfortunately as is clear from the photos on the website the property is on a square and the width of the roads can be seen. This is something that is beyond my control and unfortunately I therefore was unable to agree to your request that I contact the council asking them to reverse the one way system. However we do have a free parking permit for up to 4 cars. Regarding the torches, indeed there were no batteries and I apologise for that. Regarding the courtyard as we have had a fairly wet winter then it will unfortunately become damp and that is something beyond my control. I do provide stair gates for guests with children and the property is located as a great base to explore the West Sussex coast. It is close to the beach which is great for walks and people with dogs and I have had lots of positive feedback from guests who have had dogs with them.
