Grade II listed property just 800 yards from the glistening sea of Tenby’s North Beach

Gable End Lodge might be just 800 yards from the sparkling sand and glistening blue sea of Tenby’s North Beach but this Grade II listed, architectural gem is certainly hard to leave. From film stars to socialites, Gable End Lodge has been a much loved home and retreat for many since its construction in the 1830s. Now accommodating 7 beneath its elegant roof, its spacious rooms, high ceilings and delightfully ornate windows make it impossible not to appreciate the uniqueness of its original design. After a morning swim, the private enclosed garden offers the ideal spot for browsing the morning papers; while the grandeur of the living room provides a fitting welcome after some fine dining within the medieval walled town.  With Tenby often referred to as ‘the jewel in the crown of Pembrokeshire’  and The National Geographic recently claiming Pembrokeshire to be the second best coastal destination in the entire world...........this gem within the jewel shouldn’t be missed. 

Ground Floor: The property has gas central heating and comprises:
Front porch

Lounge / diner:  with Freesat TV/radio, DVD/CD; leather sofas and impressive original bay windows. 

Dining area: with table and chairs for 7

Cloakroom:  with WC and wash basin

Kitchen:  with electric oven and gas hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine; radio/CD player and table and chairs for 4

First Floor: Bedroom 1:  with king-sized bed and single bed (and space for a cot if required) and en suite with shower, WC and wash basin.

Bedroom 2:  with king-sized bed (and space for a cot if required)

Bedroom 3:  with two single beds (which can form a king-size bed on request)

Bathroom:  with bath, shower cubicle, WC, wash basin and ‘Cupola’ (an interesting architectural feature bringing in light from above.

All fuel and power included. Bed linen and towels supplied. Two travel cot’s, a highchair, stair gate and ‘bumper’ seat available. Two ’Z’ bed’s suitable for a children are available, but only if the cot’s are not required owing to space.

Enclosed garden, front area lawned with garden dining furniture, borders with mature planting and trees surround gated drive-way and sun-trap back yard with additional garden dining furniture. Parking for 3 cars.

    The kitchen equipment needs reviewing. All cupboards full of much unnecessary equipment leaving no room for guests items. We searched for a guest comment book but failed to find one. Memory foam mattress very uncomfortable for us.

With regards to the kitchen equipment many past guests have commented on how well the kitchen is equipped. There is a cupboard left for guest food and a large fridge/freezer. The memory foam mattress topper has been noted by many guests as being very comfortable, however, if you require a hard bed this would not be suitable. Guests are given our telephone number and we would have been more than happy to remove the topper for you. Similarly if you had any other concerns we would have been happy to help you.

    We were blessed with fine weather in April, so spent a lot of time on the beach, which is within walking distance, though a little taxing for young and elderly(part ranged from 4 yrs to 80 yrs) Had we spent more time in the house, there was plenty of space for the twins to play, and they were delighted to discover a basket of toys and buckets and spades were provided. The mod cons were appreciated by adults. The landlady was very helpful, giving us the number of a local doctor in case we needed one. This was one item of information not included in the info file, and will now be added.

We are blessed with beautiful beaches within walking distance although this can test some peoples legs however we are lucky to have ample off road parking for guests.     We absolutely loved the property and it was ideal for our stay. Slept 7 comfortably. The house itself was so welcoming and in a great location. We will definitely be coming back to stay. Many Thanks for a great week at a great house. Matt (Smokestack Lightnin')

    An attractive character house within a reasonably short, albeit energetic, walk to the town centre and beach.

    Shower Cubicles are difficult to get into and out of due to the height from the floor, and no where to put soaps etc once your in there. Lounge furniture is a bit small and uncomfortable. TV remote was missing. Otherwise all very nice, good location for walking around Tenby and nice to have off road parking. lots of places to eat out.

We have now corrected the problems highlighted, thank you for advising us of these we are always trying to improve the cottage and the guests stay at Gable End.

    The house felt damp especially the twin bedroom. The garden was enclosed as described but with steps leading down to front door which was not included in description which proved hazardous with 2 year old triplets.

    Response on behalf of the Owner; Gable End Lodge is a Grade II listed building and has the original large single glazed windows. It has been noted in the past that if clothes are dried on the radiators it can lead to condensation. We have had the house thoroughly checked out and it shows no signs of damp. The access statement written by Wales Cottages gives information about the steps down to the front door.
