South Downs National Park is close to this barn conversion, with a cosy wood-burning stove, and with extensive footpaths leading to the low weald.

Sympathetically converted, these super barn conversions (refs PRRJ and PRRK), previously the egg store of a renowned chicken farm, stand side by side adjacent to the owners’ home, which is on the outskirts of the picturesque village of Kirdford. Close to the South Downs National Park, these attractive holiday barns are ideal for couples wishing to stroll, cycle, fish, play golf or visit the numerous attractions within easy reach. Foxleigh Farm Barns has close access to an extensive network of footpaths, leading to the unspoilt part of the low weald, a haven for birds and wildlife. The quaint village of Petworth is 5 miles away, with its plentiful antique shops, beautiful stately home and Capability Brown designed gardens and parkland, where many functions and events can be enjoyed during the summer months. The charming small town of Midhurst, famous for polo at Cowdray Park is also a short drive, as are Billingshurst, Haslemere and Guildford. Goodwood, with its motor racing and horse racing, Fontwell races, West Dean Gardens, Parham House, The Weald, Downland Open Air Museum and the South Downs are all within easy driving distance, as is the cathedral city of Chichester with its extensive shopping and tea rooms, festival theatre and harbour tours. Alternatively, the town of Arundel with its famous castle and cathedral, plus the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust are both well worth a visit. The Witterings and other beaches are a half-hour’s drive and numerous golf courses are within easy reach. Shop, pub and restaurant ¼ mile.

4 steps to entrance. Living room with wood-burning stove/dining room/kitchen with wooden floor. Cloakroom with boot store and toilet. Turning stairs to first floor: Galleried twin bedroom with zip and link beds (can be 6ft double) and en-suite bathroom with over-bath shower and toilet.

This was a really lovely, comfortable cottage on the edge of the South Downs, in a quiet location but with an excellent village shop and some pubs close by.

What a lovely place to stay, Elaine was very welcoming, the cottage well equipped and very comfy and cosy, outside area has been made very secure even for the smallest of dogs, great view from the dining area of the horses paddock, watching the horses exercising and new riders being trained. the weather let us down so we couldn't enjoy the walks around the area. The property is on a country lane but is very quite, I would definitely stay here again.

We really enjoyed our stay here and would return. The welcome was spot on and the converted barn was very comfortable and ideal for two adults plus a dog. The location is centrally placed and gives plenty of opportunities for trips out in all directions. Only negative in this part of Sussex appeared to us to be the state of the minor roads which need to be driven on with care due to numerous potholes, subsidence etc. - nothing to do with the accommodation of course but something to be aware of.

Me , my partner and our dog stayed here over the Christmas period . We were blown away from the stray the property was spotless and we were greeted with wine , fresh milk and eggs from their own farm. The location was perfect with a local shop you must visit . Also we were provided with walking routes which we did indeed go out and do . Everything we needed was provided and the owner even did over washing for us . I would and will be staying here again and would recommend to all to visit and experience what we did :)

My dog and I had a wonderful, peaceful week here. The cottage was extremely comfortable and situated in a quiet area with so many walking possibilities we couldn't explore it all in one week. Elaine was very helpful and left us with milk, eggs and a much-appreciated bottle of wine. The local village has a lovely shop and a couple of extraordinarily friendly pubs. I will definitely be coming back to stay here.

We had an excellent stay in The Roost. Elaine and her staff were most friendly and helpful. The apartment is spacious and well-equipped although a washing machine would have been more useful than a dishwasher - but that's just a small point. It was warm and quiet. The apartment is modern and well decorated but still has the atmosphere of a rural cottage. The village (2 pubs, community shop and church) is about a pleasant 20 minute walk along the road or using a footpath to cut the corner. There is no street lighting. There are many pleasant walks in the area and Petworth House is a ten minute drive away. It is a very good base for exploring the area, although having you own transport is essential as the bus service is very limited. We had a thoroughly enjoyable two-week stay in The Roost. Highly recommended.

Everything was great about this cottage, the only thing we found to be a problem was that you couldn't easily walk to the shop and pub with a dog in tow, due to having to walk down a busy-ish road which had no paths. There was a woodland walk you could use but that cut off part of said road but not all of it and you still had to walk a large portion of it. It's probably about a 15/20 minute walk to the shop and pub of which both were really good! We found the cottage to be quiet, even though it is semi detached and there were people next door during our stay. Elaine, the cottage owner, was fab and she left us with a bottle of wine, fresh eggs and a small jug of milk, which we found a lovely touch. The garden is small but completely enclosed and perfect for a dog. We really enjoyed our stay and would fully recommend a visit to Cissbury Ring with or without a dog, the views are out of this world!!
