Lovely cottage in a stunning location, let down by no hot water coming from the shower and no one coming to see it despite us asking, empty glass bottles left in the garden from the previous person and my dog's face getting stuck in a mouse trap left in the garden! Other than these issues it was a nice stay.

A beautiful cottage set in a rural location no shops nearby but supermarket a short drive. The cottage was very comfortable although mattresses in single beds need replacing. The only downside for us was there is no toilet upstairs. All in all a fantastic area to visit and our stay made much more enjoyable with Quentin and Ethel next door lovely friendly people. A visit to The Honey Farm and Chain Bridge is a must a double decker bus kitted out as a cafe and cakes made locally.

We had a near perfect week in this cottage. Great base for the Borders. The cottage was impeccably clean and very well appointed. The farmer was helpful and lovely. Some lovely walks around the farm watching the sunset and beautiful views out of the front. And a horse in the back garden! How lovely.

This cottage is a real mixed bag. There are some excellent elements, such as the very comfortable and clean bedrooms, Sky TV and wireless internet, modern kitchen and bathroom. The cottage is spacious and would easily accommodate a family of 4, and the views across to the Cheviots are stunning. However, some aspects of the accommodation fell short of the standard we expected for the price we paid. The sofa in the living area is worn out and very uncomfortable, and the large rug in the same room presents a major trip hazard. There were several other little issues, such as no matches or lighters for the open fire, no kitchen roll, no hand-wash in the kitchen, the frying pan was peeling and unusable, and we could not use the freezer as the drawers were frozen solid and in need of defrosting. There was also no information booklet for the property that we could find. Finally, the window in the master bedroom was not sealed properly leading to a noisy and drafty night when it was stormy outside. These are very minor gripes in isolation, but together they did lessen the enjoyment of our stay at Foulden Hill, although we still had a good time overall. To summarise, in our opinion you can find a higher class of accommodation in the Borders at a similar cost, yet with a bit more care and attention this property could be the best of them all!
