We chose this cottage over others because it had internet: we have a 10 year old son who has a daily ration and we also needed to use it for information about the local area etc. However, the owners had just changed provider and needless to say it didn't work. The cottage info handbook had not been updated and so began a text to owners/email to service providers/visit to the cottage by the owners to try and put it right. However, it didn't get fixed, so we wasted lots of time and although the owners were apologetic and very nice they never offered us any token of compensation. Our son was disappointed and we were inconvenienced. Another disappointment was the old 'tube in the back' style tv, whose screen flickered and which was simply uncomfortable to watch, so we didn't. The cottage appeared plush on arrival but staying there for a few days it felt like the cottage had been left to go tired - it looks plush n posh so it'll be alright..that'll do. The windows in the master bedroom sounded like a set of bagbipes in the wind - and it was very windy, the plug mechanism in the bathroom sink didn't work so you had to empty out using fingers, there were posh plates etc in the kitchen but no foil, cling film or kitchen roll provided, both twin beds in the childrens' room were uncomfortable because you could feel the springs through the mattresses and even some of the pillows were lumpy! If the owners ever spent a night/morning there, it was a long time ago. We just felt like a money making opportunity on the side, which began with the owner turning up at the front door saying, 'Have you got firewood, I don't know if there's firewood, have they left firewood, let me know if you need any..?' There were no comments in the visitor's book since October 2017 - maybe people, like us, didn't want to express their disappointment that way. However, we must say that the heating was always on and the hot water was constant and abundant.
