Like the Phoenix there has been a rebirth from the ashes for this beautifully rebuilt cottage which captures both old worldly and modern amenity in a very scenic surrounding. Absolutely lacking in nothing it is heated to perfection with showers on both levels, it is just a shame I couldn't transport the whole thing to replace my own humble abode. If you want peace, tranquillity, wildlife, engaging walks, echoes of historic eventing, a touch of class, this could be your Xanadu.

A lovely peaceful spot in the woods, the cottage was surprisingly large, especially the kitchen area where we spent most of our time, the Aga was a treat and was well used during our stay. Mark, the owner, was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Definitely recommend a trip to the Observatory which is a short walk from the cottage. Wonderful to be away from mobile/wifi but this is available in the office if required. Walks and fishing in a beautiful setting, really a great spot to relax and rewind.

Return trip to this cottage. Location is fantastic, very tranquil and relaxing. Cottage needs a little bit of updating, but has not lost any of its charm. Hope to return next year.

Great little cottage, lovely place to get away from it all. The only downside is that the garden is not completely enclosed as advertised. Some effort had been made to make the back enclosed but there are gaps in the fence at bottom and bins blocking the side. This wouldn't put me off going again I would just pay closer attention when the dogs were outside.

A great location and beautiful retreat cottage, within a short distance to Ayr, Glasgow and other locations. Not having mobile access or Wifi was a blessing and really allowed us to relax and switch off. Mark and the team have done a great job creating this retreat, with great views, walks and not forgetting the stables. If you want to relax and unwind this is the place for you.
