We had a lovely 4-night stay in the coottage, which is adjacent to the home of the owners, Val and Dave on their smallholding. It is situated in a lovely, peaceful part of the western Brecon Beacons National Park. A car is essential for this location and the village is tiny. We would happily stay here again!

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you, you are so kind to say how much you enjoyed Forest View Cottage and to leave a score of 10. We do have an ambition to satisfy all who stay with us and do our utmost to achieve exactly what our guests wish from their stay. It may be privacy or to pop round to the farmhouse and enjoy the awesome views and have a drink with us. Your decision and your choice. Watching me train our Border Collies and looking at the newly born lambs is a real pleasure for some and such a spiritual and special place to be. We look forward to your visit again.

Used the cottage as a base for a road cycling holiday. Location is absolutely perfect and the owners and warm, welcoming and extremely knowledgeable about the local area. They can't do enough for you. Great communication before arrival and great support whilst there. Cottage was must bigger than expected. Very warm, cosy and relaxing. Washing machine and wifi were vital. Hard to fault anything, great value for money.

Very warm welcome from hosts Dave and Val. Lovely quiet rural location with easy access to the local countyside. Plenty to do nearby. Accommodation much larger than expected and well equipped.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for the lovely comments you left in our visitor’s book, we are so delighted you thought so much of our cottage and your stay to give a score of 9. Thank you again. We do wonder why sometimes our guests give a very low score but accept their views and realise everyone's idea of a self-catering holiday in the country varies. Location, weather and our guest’s ideals we have no control over but can assure everyone we do care and make every effort to make your stay special and enjoyable in every way and if you have a problem during your stay we need to know about it before you leave so it can be addressed and sorted immediately. Having had the most busy year again we have only now been in a position to make Forest View Cottage even more welcoming than before as our upgrade of new beds, inside and outside decor, drapes and furniture, slow cooker and added WIFI is almost complete and has brought a refreshing new look to this homely and very popular cottage in this very special part of The Brecon Beacons. We take this opportunity to thank all our guests for the business this year and wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and look forward to seeing you in the coming year.

Having stayed in many Cottages 4 You properties over the years this is the first time we have been disappointed. The property did not live up to its description which indicated that it was an isolated cottage adjacent to a farmhouse. In fact, the house is in the middle of an albeit small, village and right next door to the village hall, public toilets and several other houses. The house was very tired; beds were incredibly uncomfortable, hard and noisy. The duvet covers were so washed out it was wearing away and looked threadbare. The curtains had brown, damp stains and needed replacing. The house could have slept six people (our party was four). But the cooking equipment was minimal. This would not have mattered so much if there were pubs and restaurants nearby, but of course, in rural Wales, there weren't. Obviously, we knew this, and we went prepared to cook for ourselves, but basic cooking equipment, i.e. bowls and saucepans were lacking at the house. Luckily we brought a casserole dish with us. There was no soap in the toilets and bathroom so we went out and bought these. Although we knew there was no dishwasher at the house, it made us realise how necessary it is on a holiday like this. However, on the plus side, the three piece suite was very comfortable and the house was clean, warm and dry. The owners were very pleasant and welcoming.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your comments. I am sorry these guests were disappointed despite us being flexible in allowing them to bring an extra dog. We have had many comments on how well equipped the kitchen is. The curtains and covers have now been upgraded and changed as we had planned. The guests this week have just been and had coffee with us and have declared everything is great and the kitchen equipment is more than adequate. We have never provided soap etc. in the 24 years and it has never been suggested at the annual inspection as we are not required to do so, which has always been accepted as a grade 4 standard, after all we are a self-catering cottage.
