These 4 outstanding holiday homes (refs 28634, 28635, 28636, 28637) are situated on the Teesdale Way in a Grade II listed, detached, Victorian house which was formerly a mill owner’s house. Set amidst open countryside overlooking the River Tees, these beautifully furnished properties boast many wonderful features, including original fireplaces and flooring. This is a perfect location for a family or small group of friends to enjoy a memorable holiday or get together. The properties have an added advantage of being in a quiet location but just a short walk to Barnard Castle, 500 yards, a picturesque market town on the River Tees. The town offers a good choice of tea rooms, shops and restaurants, and in the neighbouring villages there are several good country inns. Enjoy woodland walks, cycling and picnics from the moment you step outside the front door. Nearby Hamsterley Forest is a beautiful oasis of woodland, with coffee shops and trails, suitable for walking and cycling. Visit the beautiful gardens at Eggleston Hall. Other attractions in the area include the Bowes Museum, Raby Castle and High Force Waterfall, whilst within an hour’s drive there are the Lakes, Beamish and the city of Durham. Barnard Castle also boasts a beautiful 18-hole golf course. The neighbouring villages of Boldron, Romaldkirk and Cotherstone are but a few offering excellent eating places.     We were dissatisfied and disappointed with the cottage, particularly in regard to what we felt was a basic level of accomodation and poor level of equipment in relation to the cost.

    Very pleasant location,Barnard Castle a lovely market town,quiet with river just outside front door. Described as a cottage,but was only two downstairs rooms and as such fairly expensive for time of year,and as i am partly disabled it was lucky it was on ground floor. Rooms were very comfortable,if a bit basically equipped:- just enough crockery and pans some cups chipped,and strict instructions not to alter c/h times which left the cottage chilly in the afternoon (invested in a fan heater). My main problem was the lack of a non-slip mat in the shower as i have trouble with my mobility. All in all a pleasant stay but not quite as expected.
