Only 5 minutes’ drive from Dover and its famous white cliffs, or bring your passport and sail across to France for the day.

Enjoy a relaxing holiday surrounded by countryside in these barn conversions which have been decorated and fitted to a very good standard. They are situated on the owners’ working arable farm, and guests are welcome to use the footpaths crossing the farmland. Take a few steps back in time to the year of 1193 AD when you view the abbey ruins, once bustling with French monks. During the dissolution of the monasteries, Henry VIII had many stones removed from the abbey to build his fortifications at Deal and Walmer. Follow in the monks’ footsteps, (today a 20 minute car journey), and take a trip to Canterbury. Dover is 5 minutes’ drive, ideal for day trips to France or to visit its castle and admire the famous white cliffs. The properties are perfectly situated for walking and bird watching, with several good sandy beaches close by. Monks & Flint barns are adjoining. The Stables & Nell’s Barn are detached. Shop 1½ miles, pub 2 miles.

All on ground floor. 2 steps up to living room with French door/dining room with wooden floor/kitchen with tiled floor. 2 bedrooms: 1 double with en-suite shower room and toilet, 1 twin with additional pull-out single (5ft 9in long). Bathroom with shower over bath and toilet. Low beams throughout.

Woodburner in living room included. Oil central heating, electricity, bed linen and towels included. Travel cot and high chair on request. Digital TV. DVD/CD and small library. Electric cooker. Microwave. Washer/dryer. Dishwasher. Fridge/freezer. Wi-fi. Sitting-out area and furniture. Barbecue. Parking (2 cars). No smoking. Please note: Unfenced pond 50 yards. This property has a security deposit of £250.

The barn cottages are well set out around a grass and gravel square and it's very quiet with privacy for everyone. The reason I didn't give a 10 in all questions is because there isn't a very local general shop, although there is a local pharmacy and post office and a superstore Tesco a couple of miles away. Obviously, there are lots of amenities in Dover - the castle is brilliant. It was cold at night as you would expect in April and so I would have liked more blankets or a warmer duvet. There is a woodburner and very efficient central heating. So, overall, the barn is excellent.

Beautiful barn, full of character in a peaceful setting. The location was great for children, they were able to explore and play in safety. We had an amazing time.

Clean , excellent , lovely , well decorated accommodation, a good base plenty to do around the area & not far from supermarket. Lovely to have an historic ruin in the grounds . Owner Sue very helpful , the only reason I didn't give equipment full marks was that wifi a bit slow but all Kent seems to be like that ! Have already recommended to friends & will hopefully visit the farm again.

Flint Barn is in an idyllic location, peaceful and relaxing. We received a warm welcome from the owner who, along with her family, were helpful and charming during our break there. The barn was immaculately clean and very well equipped and maintained. The ruined abbey on site is interesting and Dover/White Cliffs are less than four miles away where there is a huge amount of historical interest. We would love to revisit and would have no hesitation in recommending this barn (or others on site) to friends and family.

Flint barn is great for a few days away. We wanted to be near enough to Dover and Canterbury. Sue greeted us the following morning (instructions for keys given as we didn't plan to get to the barn until after 8pm) to make sure everything was in order. The washer was a godsend as we had ben traveling for nearly a week at that point and needed a couple outfits washed at that point. Perfect space for our young family of 4- the boys had their own room and TV. Rackets and a ball were available and the boys enjoyed playing on the shared lawn w other kids staying next door. Wifi available but not always the strongest of signal/did cut in and out. (Mobile signal on EE and Three nearly nonexistent- not at the fault of Flint barn obviously- all of Kent seemed the same) The abbey is a pretty view to discover. The boys enjoyed reading about and walking to take a look at it- and of the horses who were very friendly and greeted us/requested grass. Lovely place and we highly recommend!
